Anyone remember when I said there where 5 pit bull mixes (under the name Pit bull/???? mix) up for adoption at our kill-shelter that has never adopted out pit bull or pit bull mixes before? And how I was wondering what they where doing ....if they where changing their policy or what??

Well....today at dog walking I asked about it and they are changing their policy on pit bulls!!! :D :D Which means they will now start adopting out all Pit Bull Mixes that pass the BA's! :D Only on Pit mixes, but it's a wonderful start!!! I'm so happy!! It's so great!!! I can't even believe it! I hope it continues!!

Anyways, I just had to share the news! :D

Great news....some signs of sanity.

Funny thing is I have found in my experience that Pit Bulls usually do a little better on Behavior tests than Pit/Mixes. It clearly depends on the ?/mix but sometimes when they are mixed with breeds that have HA that it makes for more possibility for trouble.

Hurrah. I think any shelter that discriminates against breeds doesn't deserve to be a shelter... =\
In my opinion, I disagree with that statement (is that redundant?). I think shelters that discriminate based on breeds are wrong, but I don't think they shouldn't be a shelter because of it. That's like saying a dog owner who thinks pit bulls are horrid animals shouldn't own a dog. Both just need some education on the subject and time to, hopefully, change and come to their senses.

That's all only my opinion of course. ;)

And I'll bet you were a good influence toward that change of policy :)
lol no, I doubt it really. I didn't do much on the matter, I mean I talked to some of the people and all, but not much. I believe it was probably two people who do contact rescue's for dogs at our shelter who may have contributed to this. They had been trying to get a programm up and running for pit bull fosters and home checks to adopt out pits.

Either way it's a great thing!

You've won quite a battle! You're now promoted to General!
lol Like I said above, I don't think I had much to do with it :p

P.S. I would give back the medals, signafying that I'm a general ( ;) lol) but they are just soo shiny!! lol

Well makes sense. Combine a dog breed with tendencies toward DA and one with tendencies towards HA and your most likely going get a bad outcome. lol
