Pit Bull Saves Family From Intruder
Reporting
David Begnaud
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―

A single mother and her five children were saved from an intruder by their pit bull, which attacked and chased off the suspect.

According to police, 29-year-old Jeremiah Taylor broke through a glass door into the room of 13-year-old Emanuel Sosa at around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Taylor acted violently, striking Emanuel and the walls of the bedroom, when Baby, the Sosa's one-year-old pit bull, jumped into the fray.

"I hit him back… and that's when my dog jumped up on my bed and attacked him," Emanuel said. "I said, 'Get him Baby.'"

Emanuel's mother, Aurora, confronted the intruder and told him to get out, and Taylor reportedly took off, bursting through their fence and scrambling down the streets. Sacramento police officers spotted a man matching the description from the Sosas – and was also suffering from a number of bite wounds.

Police arrested Taylor, who didn't get any valuables from the house.

The Sosas say they're moving out of their house, but they have to give Baby away, because the place they're moving to won't allow pets her size.

Aww, what a shame they can't keep the dog :(

But, we have many members here who have had to give their loved pets away for the same reasons.....

Shame.

Nice feel good story then that last sentence! :(

I find it hard to understand how people can just give away a member of the family. If you have another child you don't give one away cause you only have one bedroom!

So the dog saves them and they are going to get rid of her.

I find that very sad and dissapointing. :(

Wow! What a great dog. It is really a shame they don't have the same feeling toward their dog that he apparently had toward them. I could never get rid of my dog regardless, but if it saved my life and my kid's, no way. I'd move mountains to find a place that would allow dogs.

If that's what the people can do after the dog heroic act, I'd say the dog deserves a more loving family than that.

Wow, now that's loyalty. /sarcasm

At least the dog seems to understand the meaning of loyalty. Too bad the humans don't.

Wow, I was all stoked about the story...then that last sentence. How pathetic.

Sorry, I know people sometimes have to move places that don't let them keep pets, but wow, if my dog saved my butt like that...I'd find somewhere that did allow them, no matter what.

Maybe the news story was a ploy so that the people who run the place they are moving into will see it and be like "well, that's a pretty good dog" and make an exception. Though I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
