If a person wants a dog who might at anytime decide it doesn't like someone, or their dog, and attack,... a dog whom he/she must constantly protect from idiots who will purposely provoke the dog,... and doesn't mind the neighbors thinking that they are drug dealers,....sure get a pitbull.
Um no. Simply. no.

Talullah . . . . She is fine with my two as of now. I doubt she'll ever try to start something with Kharma again. She got a little smartassed with her once and found her little head - mouth still open and going - easily encompassed by Kharma's maw. She's not stupid by a long shot and that put things into perspective for her. She tried it once with Bimmer and got put down hard. He never broke her skin, but she doesn't want anymore of what he dished out to her. She also found out that Kharma was standing right there ready to back Bimmer up.

What makes it work is the two big dogs and the bond the three of them have built. It now breaks Tallulah's heart for Bimmer to get upset at her. She'll do anything to get him to forgive her, just like Kharma.

Talullah CANNOT be trusted anywhere around cats. Period. She may walk right past them one time, then the next time she is looking for trouble. She's okay with my mom's elderly little Rat Terrier, to a point. Katie's fiesty, too, and they aren't allowed to be together unless I'm right there. Most of the time they'll play for awhile - after Talullah's teased Katie - then lay down in the box in front of the heater and take a nap together. Sometimes, though, Talullah can't leave well enough alone and will keep poking Katie, trying to stir things up. Then either they get separated or Talullah goes home. There are just times when I can tell she's looking for trouble.

Honestly, I don't think either one of my two big dogs would give her up for anything, and she's made a huge difference. Bimmer plays like a three year old, and he was never a really playful dog before, especially after Buffy died. It's the same with Kharma.

Would I recommend one for just anyone? Oh HELL no. She's a handful. I know full well she has to be watched like a hawk around anything Bimmer's size or smaller and cannot be loose except in very rare instances - and I'd never, ever take her to a park unless we were the only ones there and I could see easily before anyone else entered.

Now, with PEOPLE? Contrary to what the unknowledgeable among us would say, she's delightful, if a bit over-enthusiastic. The APBT may be the most innately affectionate of all the Terriers. I can't say enough about their good qualities with people and their sweetness.

Pitbulls are very popular in the city 20 miles north of me. It seems that they are most popular with human males, who think they "look cool".
And yes, plenty of drug dealers keep them because of what they are and because of their reputation.

Umm, no. Pit bulls---real pitbulls, not the oversized, overblown mixes labeled as "pit bulls"---are completely non-aggressive towards people.

Uh? Do you always spout uneducated bullshit or do you ever bother to educate yourself on a topic before forming an opinion and stating that opinion? I'm pretty sure I could guess the answer to that.

And all this coming from someone who owns vicious killing machines that are known to just snap at any moment: the GSD.

I have some neighbors across the street who have that same mentality. They're afraid of Tallulah . . . when she's ON LEASH. They weren't, however, afraid of the other neighbor's white Shepherd that's allowed to roam . . . that is until the dog did her standard drama of going berserk as they walked down the sidewalk and ran out and accosted them like she has me and whichever of my dogs I'm walking so many times. The idiot even worked up enough nerve to try to come up from behind Kharma and bite her once. Damnear lost her face for that little faux pas. She got off with a warning that time, but I can guarantee she won't get a warning if it happens again.

But guess what? The PIT BULL behaves - even when the silly mother is shrieking and shoving her kids in the door . . . while my dog is walking on a LEASH. She doesn't understand why people treat her that way, and now, thanks to people with the ignorant attitude that she's a potential killer who may snap at any moment, she shuts down around most people and ignores them completely.

So, thanks, for taking some of the joy from a little dog's life.

my God. Bigdogs please do not spout of you opinions like they are facts...you are obviously clueless.

Funny how a post like that can come from someone who owns a breed that has had their share of negative press in the past.

I guess it's just slipped his mind that he owns a banned and restricted breed also.
