Talullah . . . . She is fine with my two as of now. I doubt she'll ever try to start something with Kharma again. She got a little smartassed with her once and found her little head - mouth still open and going - easily encompassed by Kharma's maw. She's not stupid by a long shot and that put things into perspective for her. She tried it once with Bimmer and got put down hard. He never broke her skin, but she doesn't want anymore of what he dished out to her. She also found out that Kharma was standing right there ready to back Bimmer up.
What makes it work is the two big dogs and the bond the three of them have built. It now breaks Tallulah's heart for Bimmer to get upset at her. She'll do anything to get him to forgive her, just like Kharma.
Talullah CANNOT be trusted anywhere around cats. Period. She may walk right past them one time, then the next time she is looking for trouble. She's okay with my mom's elderly little Rat Terrier, to a point. Katie's fiesty, too, and they aren't allowed to be together unless I'm right there. Most of the time they'll play for awhile - after Talullah's teased Katie - then lay down in the box in front of the heater and take a nap together. Sometimes, though, Talullah can't leave well enough alone and will keep poking Katie, trying to stir things up. Then either they get separated or Talullah goes home. There are just times when I can tell she's looking for trouble.
Honestly, I don't think either one of my two big dogs would give her up for anything, and she's made a huge difference. Bimmer plays like a three year old, and he was never a really playful dog before, especially after Buffy died. It's the same with Kharma.
Would I recommend one for just anyone? Oh HELL no. She's a handful. I know full well she has to be watched like a hawk around anything Bimmer's size or smaller and cannot be loose except in very rare instances - and I'd never, ever take her to a park unless we were the only ones there and I could see easily before anyone else entered.
Now, with PEOPLE? Contrary to what the unknowledgeable among us would say, she's delightful, if a bit over-enthusiastic. The APBT may be the most innately affectionate of all the Terriers. I can't say enough about their good qualities with people and their sweetness.
