Pi's co-breeder/owner wanted him shown at the Great Western Terrier Association show in Long Beach, CA. I couldn't afford to go along, so shipped him down to her to be shown. They stayed on the Queen Mary, which means that basically, my dog got a better vacation than any I can afford to take myself.

He looked handsome, though!

He won his class (Bred by, there were 4 dogs in it) all 3 days, and got Reserve on Sunday, but no points unfortunately. His younger half-sister got Reserve on Saturday, Winners Bitch (4 points) and an Award of Merit on Sunday. And his older half-sister got Select Bitch (5 GrCH points, though she is already a Grand) the 2 days she showed, Friday and Sunday. So a pretty good weekend for his co-owner/breeder, who showed all 3 of them, but I sure wish Pirate had at least gotten one of the majors.

Oh shoot, wish he could have picked up one (or more) of those majors!

Question - is it traditional to show Staffordshires in collars/leashes like in his photos? I'm always fascinated by what other breeds use, and I've never seen anything like that before!

Yes, in the UK they are typically shown in the traditional brass studded collars. They aren't as common in the US, but these were UK judges. And some of us just prefer to follow tradition. Some US judges don't like the Stafford collars, but I kind of figure that if the judge doesn't like that collar, they probably aren't going to like my dog, either.

Most of them are bought from here:

Very cool, thanks for the lesson! I figured it was something along those lines (tradition) but wasn't sure. Very cool!
