Well long story short (somewhat short, lol), Cannelle was purchased from a pet store as a puppy. She went to a home that knew nothing about dogs with the young kid who would, well, be a two-year-old and just didn't know how to act around the dog (of course, he wasn't supervised with Cannelle). If that wasn't enough, the adults would smack her whenever she did something wrong, and I guess that wasn't working out too well for her because she deemed her "untrainable" and dropped her off at the vet to be euthanized (a healthy, highly adoptable 6-month-old puppy). The vet couldn't bear to euthanize her, so a lady who volunteered there took her home for the week to see how she was around her dogs. Well I guess she forgot to think because she plopped her down in front of four large dogs (no slow introduction one-on-one) who apparently just thought she was a chew toy. She barely survived, but was turned over to a wonderful rescue and recovered like a trooper. Her eye actually popped out during the attack and she was rushed to the emergency where they put it back in, but I guess it didn't exactly "take" and got infected, so they had to remove it. They thought that the optic nerve would be damaged and she'd lose the vision in her other eye, but the other eye wasn't affected at all. I wasn't looking for another dog, but when the rescue called me and asked me to take her (I thought they meant foster initially, lol), I just couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't, I've never regretted it!
