Here's Koda!

She is half Newfoundland (father) and half Golden Retriever (mother). They were an "accidental" breeding and a rescue in a nearby town took them in when they were 5 weeks old. They said her mother was very sweet but they weren't able to interact with the father but did say he was black. She is nine weeks old and we brought her home last night. She has been wonderful and hasn't had very many accidents. She whines when she has to go potty and she even held it overnight. Koda absolutely adores my daughter (and vice versa). On the ride home last night she sat with her head on my daughter's lap the entire car ride home. She is very calm but playful. Koda is exactly what I was looking for in a puppy, I'm so glad I found her. I can't think of a better combo of breeds. She has the newfie coat and most of her littermates had the golden coat. I currently live in Houston where it is very hot and humid and you can tell she doesn't like the heat much. When I walk her she seeks out the shade and just lays there, it is so cute. We are moving to Arlington, TX in the next couple of weeks and luckily it is a bit less humid there. I am planning on getting her a wading pool so she can cool off on hotter days.
Our dog, Lucy, loves her but the kitty is keeping her distance. My husband agrees she's the best puppy. He is so glad we were able to find a newfoundland in rescue in Texas (not too common here) and he totally adores Goldens.
Anyhow, just wanted to show off our new addition.

Thanks, I just love her to pieces. She just woke up and she held it again overnight, I'm so happy with my girl.
I've been trying to take pictures of her but I haven't been able to get any good ones (she moves at the last minute). If it isn't too hot today we're taking her to the park so hopefully we'll get some good ones there. My husband wants to take her to the lake and let her wade by the shore if she wants. That might be a fun for her.
When I saw her I knew here name was Koda, it was weird. Luckily my husband liked it too. When he saw Lucy he knew her name was Lucy so it worked out nice. I don't know were I heard it before but most likely at the kennel I used to work at. It just popped in my head. Is your Koda a male or female?

You and I will be neighbors...that's my 'hood! It's actually horribly humid right now...sad to say.

I have a big dog...we should get together and let them play a bit sometime. When she's old enough. My girl is 7mos old...she's in my sig.

Hounded by Hounds, Cleo is gorgeous. We looked into Leonbergers, they are really cool dogs. I hope it is better than here, it is down right miserable here in Houston. That'd be fun to have them play together.
We took the girls to the park and it was fun but so hot. Lucy surprised me and went into the lake (elbow deep). She was wanting to go after one of those nutrarat things. Koda has really brought some pep back into her life. Koda followed her in toe-deep but that was about it. I think it was a good first experience for her. She absolutely adores children, she would run up to any that came near and just sit and look at them like she wanted to say "hey, pet me!". She slept the entire way home with her head on Lucy, it was so sweet. Everyone asks what kind of dog she is, I am surprised by how many people ask. Poor old Lucy is still passed out, that'll keep her tired for a few days. They are going to LOVE having a yard (we've lived in apartments the entire time we've had Lucy). Tomorrow we are going to the in-laws to do some home repairs and I'm bringing the pups so they can run around their yard. What a fun weekend they are having! Happy Memorial Day to everyone!
