Very gorgous rotti's:) It's cool to see to see them with their tail's intact to, my rotti/shep/collie cross has the exact same tail curve and I was wondering which breed he got it from.

Well, that is not the preferred tail carriage except when they are excited and Force was watching the protection helper in the blind. The higher they are in prey drive the more it will come up towards back. Other times it should not be over the back.

Very interesting, now that you mention it though it's really only curled back rigidly like that when he's excited like when we go out for walks/hikes or when he gets to go play with dogs he's already bonded to.

Then again he does seem to have very high prey/chase and work drive so I suppose that would explain why on walks and such, when he is more aware of everything going on that it is up and carried over his back similar to Forces. I do also see degrees in the way it's held over his back though as for example when he does spot a small animal on a walk besides perking up so to speak and tensing his mussels the tail becomes much more ridged; whereas the rest of the walk it is noticeably more relaxed but still above his back and curled but more so where it's flopping all over the place.

But thanks for the little bit of info I wasn't aware of the significance of breed specific different tail positions.

Wow they are beautiful dogs. I love that video of your Force learning to swim, it's so funny :p my dog never could swim, he was half shar-pei and hated the water but I love watching them play in it. Rotties are a great breed and your dogs are beautiful!

Gorgeous Rotts! I love them with the tail! I went to a K9 schutzhund
trial and they had a Rottweiler imported from Germany with his tail. He weighed in at about 120 lbs to and was a monster but man was he agile and could move quick. The cops and K9 officers said that they need there tails to act as a rudder or aid in there balancing when they are working them. Makes sense but I like them without one to ;)
