Another thing to watch is that now without his coat he will actually get HOTTER faster instead of staying cooler like most people think. A dog's fur insulates them from both the cold AND heat.
This is 100% true.

I remember reading about how in WW2, one of the armies took Dobermans to the South Pacific theater because they thought the GSD's would not do well in the heat, with their thick coats. It turned out the GSD's did just fine, and the Dobermans suffered because of their black color and thin coats.

Bring Your Pooch to a Vet Soon. it is way to skinny!!!! Why did you shave so close to the skin? As a groomer i don't know of any razor that will shave so close without cutting it. I am :eek:shocked:eek: at the pictures. Get your dog to the vet soon!!!

Tony, please take this the way it's intended- I'm pretty worried about your puppy. Are you sure you know how to care for her? I remember you posted last week about problems with house training and that you "beat" her when she peed on your girlfriend. Dogs take a LOT of patience and care. Are you sure you can be the wonderful guardian and friend your pup needs?

Surely we don't need to continue to come down on tony about the grooming mistake. What's done is done and he's well aware it wasn't the right thing to do. I think we should move on from that. ;)

This thread is quite old... drop it already.

Telling him he screwed up isn't going to help anything. Haven't ANY of you figured this out yet? What's done is done.

Give him advice instead!

Can we come down on him for beating his dog, or should that be placed in the past as well?

It's great that most people here can look beyond this--but some of us can't help but feel bad for the poor dog.

everyone feels bad for the dog, including Tony....if you read his responses, he is already feeling terrible for his mistake.

As he pointed out though, at least now he realized how skinny his puppy was, cause with all the hair, he didnt know that.

He is obviously being very responsive to the advice given.

He isnt beating his dog...and even if he was, how is bashing him going to help? All bashing will do is drive someone away from this forum, and therefore most likely not reap the benefits from the immense amount of information available on this board....

Tony, please keep us updated on how little 99 is doing :)

You're right, he never hit his dog...

My dog just pissed on my gf, exactly between my gf's two feet. And I beat him (sorry, too angry). After 10 mins, I let him out because I think he know its was his mistake. He immediately ran to my gf and pissed between her feet again :yikes:

Now I completely separate him and ignore him

What can I do?
This is a great board and I really appreciate all of the brilliant people here.

However, I doubt reading that "beating a 10lb dog is wrong" here is going to be a breakthrough to him. I'm not chasing him off at all, but sometimes it hurts to think that people can treat their dogs like this.

Is this the same dog that has "milkshake" stools on another thread? That might have somnething to do with his weight. Maybe a vet visit is in order?

Yes, it is. Tony, you need to get your dog to the vet and find out why the stool and weight problems.

Yes, Tony, take your dog to the vet. If his stools are loose and he is underweight, there could be a problem. Better safe than sorry.

sorry, i didnt know that...and I agree, it is sad :(

regardless, bashing isnt going to help anything. At least he is on here telling the truth and seeking help.

Also just want to agree with everyone who is saying to take your dog to the vet Tony!

I think you need to take into account of the fact that the poor guy is from a TOTALLY different culture.

Not to mention the fact that he explained his definition of "beating" in the same thread you took a quote from.

You may be suprised to learn this, but people aren't BORN knowing everything.

He isn't intentionally hurting his dog, he is on a STEEP learning curve. Do you think he would publicise the fact that he hurt his dog if it was in mallace?

Some people smack their children, some people smack them with belts, some people know NO better till they are shown the better way.

And he has accepted everyone's advice willingly and openly.

Perhaps by giving him a break, other people who come here to learn, will see they won't get killed for being honest, and ask for help when they need it.
