petsmart is weird.

i took luce to the grand opening of the new petsmart near me today. from the moment we walked in the door, there were people all over her. she loved it, of course, because she's a total social butterfly. it always astounds me how much attention she attracts, but i guess i should be used to it by now.

anyway, i was in the back of the store filling out entry forms for all of their drawings, and a petsmart employee (middle-age woman) comes up to me and starts in on with "wow, what a pretty dog, it's such a shame everybody's probably afraid of her."

i just looked at her and said "erm, yeah, not really. i haven't been able to walk ten feet without somebody wanting to pet her."

she gave me a rather funny look and changed the subject.

Well at least she did not say some thing else...you know...some thing that would REALLY make you mad...Like...uhhhh a pit bull...be careful!!!

But that is great that Luce is a GREAT social butterfly!!!!!!

Some lady told me that Chloe would eat her chihuahuas... Chloe woudl probably run from them....

I feel much differently about what others and you think of the comment. To me, it doesn't sound rude at all. She didn't go out and say that she thinks Pitbulls are mean, she complimented Luce and thought she was cute. It sounds like she felt bad because she knows Luce is a Pit and assumed people would probably be weary of her. I've had the same comments with my Doberman and they didn't mean anything by it except that it's a shame that people could be afraid of such a nice dog.

Lol...perhaps I'm not reading it correctly or something, or perhaps she said it with an ignorant sort of tone but it just doesn't seem like an offensive comment to me.

I was pleasantly surprised at the one in Indianapolis that Zoom and I went to. Kharma attracted a ton of attention, but almost everyone was very good about asking if they could approach her first - including the employees!

interestingly, i had many more adults come up and pet her without asking first than children. at one point she was sniffing something very important and kind of stiff in her body, and some guy come up from the side and starts petting her. not a smart thing to do with a strange dog.

PetSmart is amazing for how social it is...ours has just opened a vet sugery and its one of the best i've ever been too!
If you take your animal in for a checkup they give you about 5 pages on EXACTLY how your dog is doing literally head to toe lol they seem to really care about the animals.
Bit strange how the woman reacted though LOL...

i don't think she was being mean. i know i've seen some dogs labeled as 'bad' and thought that about them too. not because i had anything against them just because i knew how a lot of people felt about them

Not all petsmarts are the same!!! Like ours has a GREAT trainer and training area....but I would NEVER let that petsmart groom or use the docs for Lizzie!!!

Some have good docs...some have bad ones..some have good trainers..some do not...some have good groommers..some do not!!! ALL PETSMARTS ARE DIFFERENT!!!!!
