Hey I'm thinking about taking my puppy to Petsmart for training, what do you guys think? my puppy is 8 weeks old, do you think he's mature enough to learn? also, has anyone of you ever take your puppy/dog there for training before, how much would it cost and what pet store would you recommend?

8 weeks is too young to start a training class. At this point you should be working on socializing your puppy to car rides, strangers and noises. Around 12-16 weeks is the best time to start formal puppy training classes. Make sure your puppy has gone through his/her full set of vaccinations before you start going to Petsmart!

I believe it took 4 sets for our recent addition. We got him at like 8 weeks and he just finished his set of shots at around 16 weeks.

I think puppy training at PetSmart is o.k., they do socialize, I believe that is the extent of their training, as for more "proper," training, I do not recommend them. The puppy class is for fun, the people I have seen as quote un quote...trainers at petsmart, or petco etc....no way in hell......
Again, to get your puppy socialized, you can do what people stated above and for a minimal cost, go to puppy class there or at another personal trainer. We have a great trainer here that does everything.... and I think that is better. But if you just want to get your pup socialized, puppy kindergarten is o.k. as far as I have seen in Petsmart.

petsmart training is more like feeding you the information and tips and you take it home to teach it to your pet. Well maybe that applies for the trainer i had at petsmart.

actually that applies for all training classes. your dog isn't going to learn anything just from one hour of practice every week. :) it's the trainer's job to teach you how to train your dog. :)
