But what did the girlfren do? SHe just stood there and watch him stab the dog to death? I would have grabbed a chair and hit him on the head at the 1st instance or at least open the door and run out with the dog.
How could she stand there and watch him stab the poor dog 16 times x(

what disturbs me so much is he raised the dog from a young puppy and then killed it just like that!!

as for the girlfriend i kind of feel bad for her. i mean if you read it, it states that she became disturbed by the behavior and asked if she could take the dog out for a walk, thus removing herself and the dog from his house. it doesn't say she didn't scream or try to stop him. i know i might have grabbed whatever i could to try to save the dog. but against a full grown man, who was obviously missing a few screws, with a knife i don't think i could have done to much except get myself hurt/killed as well.

i think it says alot when the girlfriend tried to get the dog out of there as well instead of just leaving by herself

i actually saw a case VERY similar to this on animal cops: detroit. The gf also didnt do anything. She was freaking out of course, oh, and it was HER dog, not his...

but when you are around a crazed guy, with a knife...i really dont know if there is much you can do :(

this is so f*ing disgusting. I am a believe that what you do drunk is representative of things you WANT to do sober, but are just too chicken, ya know?

If this guy truly did love his dog, then he has SERIOUS mental issues. I dont see how they arent sending him straight to an insane asylum after his INCREDIBLY short sentence....

god the poor poor dog :(

That is such a terrible tragedy. I feel sorry for his GF for reasons others have already stated. 23 weeks is way too short. It's creepy to think about, but what if he had turned his knife on another human being? What if he had stabbed his GF in a drunken frenzy also? In my opinion the judge should have also required a substance abuse treatment program or something, so maybe he can get his act together. Hopefully this incident made him realize how terrible his drinking is and that it needs to stop before other innocents become victims.

He should get a life sentence, just like he would if he murdered a human. That is exactly what he is guilty of, murder. I am so sick of people who get off with a slap on the wrist for animal cruelity. I live outside of St. Louis, Missouri. A few years ago some loser beat his own dog to death. That is bad enough, but reports from his neighbors that called the police on him state he stopped to go in and grab another beer before returning to beating his dog with a bat. He got a similar sentence.

That guy obviously had problems. If he could do this to a dog, he could do it to his children, or anyone else. Why does he get off easy because it was a dog that was his victim?

All dogs carry the most prized traits we look for in humans. Unconditional love, honesty, and loyalty. They know nothing of deceit, hate, or evil. They are what we should strive to be everyday. So why is it people get away with this kind of stuff all the time? Why is it not as bad to kill a dog as it is to kill a human being?

This is a big problem that we don't always hear about, but it happens all the time.

What if I was that guys neighbor? What if I saw this going down, and I hopped the fence and took his bat away from him, and proceded to beat the life out of said loser? I will tell you what would happen, I would go to jail. You wouldn't here about what the neighbor was doing. You would only hear about crazy me killing his neighbor with a bat. This is because animal lovers are the minority.

There are people who own pets and keep them tucked away in the backyard only really interacting with them when it is time to feed them. And there are animal lovers, which I don't need to explain because that is who I am adressing right now. Even though we are increasing everyday in numbers. The latter is still the minority. To many people see pets as something you have to complete the "family" portrait. Not as something you take care of and love like your own children. This is not right.

I know I am rambling, but I have a lot to say. Bear with me please. :)

Here is a little background information about me. I just turned 27 April 10th, I am what some of you might call "a man's man". I am the foreman of a concrete company, and I am a freestyle fighter. I willingly step into a ring and get beat on by other people for the sport of it. Yet I am brought to tears hearing stuff like this. How could he have done this and heard the yelps and pain of something he says he loved so much, and not dropped to his knees in tears. Drunk or not, he is a threat to society and should be put away for the rest of his life. If my dogs yelps out of pain like that, it is the worst sound I could ever hear. This guy has no excuse, he never loved that dog, and his lawyer is a PoS for using that statement to try and defend him.

When Ares(my dog and best buddy) was born I was there, I took the membrane sac off of him when he was born. I don't care if that guy had him from day 1 or seven weeks. He never cared about that dog if he could do that. The laws need to be changed and people in power need to take notice. And I need to hit reply before I ramble any further. Thank you for your time.

DRUNKEN Richard Kilcommons stabbed his pet labrador to death after chasing it, crying out: "Let's see how quick Bessy is!"

In a sickening attack Kilcommons, 41, plunged a 7in kitchen knife 16 times into the devoted animal's back and sides as she yelped in agony.
looks like Bessy wasn't too quick...

23 week jail term??? Sorry, but when it comes to animal cruelty, I believe in "an eye for an eye". Throwing him in jail for a few weeks is letting him off way to easy.
yea let's stab him 16 times

adobostreak are you a troll?

i find your 'bessy wasn't too quick' joke in extremely bad taste.

now maybe not an eye for an eye for punishment but he deserved much more than what he got.

Yeah, I thought that was in bad taste as well. Bessy probably wasn't that quick, because Bessy doesn't understand what drunk is. Bessy didn't understand why someone she has loved so much was trying to hurt her like that. All she knew of safety until that day was with him. When the safest place you can think of now tries it's damnedest to hurt you, where would you run to? I feel so bad for any dog that has to go through something like that.
I mourn that dog and I never even met it. All I can do is hug my dog and shed a tear.

I am all for an eye for an eye justice. It is pretty low to take another human beings life, but it is even lower to treat an animal like that. I wouldn't walk across the street to **** on that guy if he was on fire. We don't need people like that on this planet, we have enough problems as it is. Anyone cowardly enough to take out his failed life on an animal is dirt and belongs with dirt.

In yesterdays newspaper I read this man appealed against his sentence and the appeal court decided jail for 23 weeks was too high and reduced it to 18 weeks. as he had no previous convictions.
That's British justice for you
