I was watching James Bond you only live twice, where the bad guy has a persian cat.

Is incredible how the breed has changed in a few years :(
I heard many of the flat faced cats have problems because of the face. :/

I wonder if there still exist persians that look like cat? without the extreme flat faces

I don't particulary know if that look is bred for anymore, but my persian mix from rescue doesn't have an extreme face. She looks a bit like that cat. I'll see if I can scrounge up a picture.

actually they are quite easy to find.
they are named "doll faced" or "traditional" persians.

most of the extreem flat faced are the "show type" a more modren development of the breed

http://www.thecatsite.com/Breeds/61/Persian-Cats.html

alot of breeders good and BAD (yes there are back yard kitty breeders) are breeding for this "doll face" or traditional style which is less extreem.

just like siam breeders breeding for the apple head...

unlike siamese though in which i prefer the modern very sleek siam, in persians i prefer the doll face. like this stunner

I have seen some magazines breeders calling the flat faces doll faces, maybe they are BYB?

Both of mine have flat faces, but not the extremely squished faces where their noses are practically between their eyes.

I like all Persians, so I think both versians are cute;) But, I think mine are especially so:D

I was able to find the most beautiful doll faced Perisan in rescue, and he was absolutely perfect. He snored a bit, but he didn't have that constant asthmatic wheeze that the Peke faced ones did. He was athletic and just like a normal cat with a squishy nose.
