pop, soda, does anyone remember it called "tonic"................

My grandfather always used to ask me if I wanted a tonic, and it was a coke.

Just wondering...........lol

Gin and tonics made my head hurt. If I want to taste pine needles I'll go chew on the tree out front for free.

Pepsi!

We always had both at home when I was a kid, my dad only liked Coke, and my Mom liked Pepsi. My sister to this day insists they taste exactly the same. I don't know hoiw she can say that. She used to try to trick me and give me two cups with Coke or Pepsi in them and ask me to pick which one was which. She always seemed shocked when I would say, "Why did you give me two Cokes/Pepsi's?" Then she would try both and insist they tasted the same. Pepsi has lemon in it, Coke has orange, that's the main difference.

Her hubby and her used to fight all the time when she would buy whatever was on sale and he didn't like Coke at all and she would get very upset when he would insist he could tell them apart, "Like any sane person could!"

She can't even blame it on drugs..

Up until about a month ago, I was a die hard Pepsi addict....but now I'm more into coke. Fountain coke is best, but not from a fast food place. Especially McDonalds.

Without even looking I could tell you were from the midwest, with the whole "pop" thing. I grew up in Chicago and have been trying to adjust to West Coast living and everybody saying "it's a SODA, not a POP".

I'm from the Midwest..kinda. Missouri's kinda in the middle, no one knows if we're midwest, west, or south. We call it SODA :D

I prefer Diet Coke. Might as well save those 160 calories for something I can eat and enjoy more!
In canada we call it pop. When I travel to the states I find it weird to call it soda. Also I think in Kentucky once they thought I was a total screw ball calling it Pop, and told me it was just a "drank" ("drink" with a bit of an accent) haha it was finny. Culture Shock.

I guess it depends what part of Missouri, I have been to parts that you check the map to make sure your not lost in Arkansas, and then I have friends that live in St. Louis and I am pretty sure they say pop.

It's just these California imports out here in Vegas act like they have never heard the word before. Plus they all think because I am from the burbs of Chicago that I must talk like one of the Blues Brothers.

Around here they used to call it a "dope" for some reason. And a moon pie was the favored snack to go with it. Talk about a sugar rush  I think the usual "dope" at that time here was an RC though . . . Odd . . .

And in North Carolina a Pepsi was known as "Baptist Beer" :p
