Hi, first of all I would like to thank you.

I have a question for who are serving now or
were in the military. How is really the health
care for you ? I have heard good and bad things.
I saw a soldier who was wounded in battle. The
military discharge him, and didn't cover much for him.

Thank you.

Well, I'm not in the service but I receive the same care under Tricare...go look at my "No blood test results" thread...then I'll give you a secret...this has been going on since 2006. Here's the link: http://www.chazhound.com/forums/t103374/

My husband has severe PTSD, he's been a medication guinea pig, told he was faking it, and all kind of other stuff. As far as psychiatric help they need vast improvement.

Basic care is fine as long as you never get sick with something other than the cold, flu, etc. Hubby's had 4 knee surgeries, 3 on the same knee. The Army is good for breaking you down, however, your friend should apply for VA benefits and disability if he was injured and it will cause him lifelong pain, that's something they don't tell everybody.

I am sorry, I really hope it better for you and your husband.
I don't know the soldier personally.
I wanted to know because of the health care debate
going on now. I always wonder how can they take care of
everyone, when they can't even take care of the soldiers.

That's my perspective. Also, congress and all that has the same medical we do, Tricare, and they will not be losing their Tricare when/if this new health care BS goes through. I don't think the military is losing it either, but I could be mistaken.

Either way, people complain that we get "free" medical, but it comes with the downfalls, that our medical is tapped out, we don't have enough doctors to treat everyone, and it takes me a month or more to get an appt.

My husband is in the Marines and yes, there is a lot of bad and some good every now and then. I've always been very hesitant to go see a doctor.... but now...uh. I am just so very glad that I also have insurance through work (hey, it was a "free" benefit) for certain issues.

And there, folks, is the winning question of the day! :hail:

i am a Marine. we've gotten lucky i guess because we've had really good care at most military medical facilities. in fact the only bad care we got was when we had to go to East Carolina University hospital because they downsized the Naval Hospital to a clinic. It was prenatal care for a "high risk" pregnancy and they did a crappy job of taking care of my wife. We didn't find this out until my wife popped in Iowa during the move to Utah where she (& the boys) was taken care of at the University of Iowa Hospital, which was phenominally good. The doctors there were irate over the sheer lack of information my wife & i had about the risks of her pregnancy.
