Avocados
They contain a toxic component called persin, which can damage heart, lung and other tissue in many animals. This fruit is very toxic to dogs, cats and most animals.
this one? I asked about it here after we moved to this house because we have an avo tree in the backyard, got told its okay as long as they don't take the skin or seeds? We pick them up everyday when we find them but on occasion we'll find skin and a seed in the grass, so they don't seem to eat the bad stuff but they love the flesh of it. Is it really posionous?

From what I've heard... the flesh is ok... the pit and stuff is not... but don't quote me on this one. I've given Bamm some avocado before and he was absolutely fine... would be interested to hear what others say about it.

I asked Mordy about avocados awhile back, since Kharma has an absolute passion for them. She told me the flesh was okay; it's the skin and pits that are toxic.

There might be trace amounts of the persin in the flesh - not enough to affect a dog as large as Kharma, that would be a problem for a small dog, but we didn't discuss that, I only asked her about Kharma.
