This is a good example of why I don't use DBI for anything more than hight/weight, lol.

Lizzie has only been mistaken for a Rottie. Blaze has never been mistaken for anything. But then again, I really only travel in circles where people don't question my dog's breed, or they really DO know there dog breeds. I rarely ever go in Petsmart or Petco because they are so over-priced, so that could be why my guys have never been mistaken for another breed.

Dekka, it might just be the angle of the picture, but I don't think it's totally out of the question? My reasoning being that he's a bit wider through the chest and more upright through the shoulder than most BC's, though of course, this could just be due to shoddy breeding.

I think the best "guess" I ever got on Sawyer was when a lady asked me if he was an Irish Setter. :rofl1:

99% of mine happen either on campus or at the park when I'm walking the girls.

I guess my dogs are just 'normal' then. :(

:rofl1:
I sorry. ;)

Oh another one that I think is kind of amusing is convincing people papillons are a real breed and not a designer dog. Real quotes:

"What are they?"
"Papillons."
"So what breeds are they?"
"Just... papillons."

Similarly

"What breeds do they use to make them?"
"Just... papillons."
"Oh so they're like a real breed?"

Another, after saying papillons:

"Oh so they're chihuahua poodle mixes?" :)confused:)

Though lately I've been asked a lot more if they're pomeranians.

Actually, he looks pretty normal to me. :) I'll PM you a couple pictures I'd rather not post publically.

Squirt the "Pom" belongs to the same owner as the "Border Collie" I posted up in the beginning. lol.
Omigosh!!! Jessie, you're absolutely right ... I hadn't clicked on the link to the "Yellow Border Collie" in one of Squirt-the-supposed-purebred-Pomeranian pictures. It is the very same owner!

That person seriously does not know dog breeds ... WOW :yikes:

You would think he or she might have noticed the other pictures of dogs in the same breed categories ... and realize that her dogs do NOT even resemble any of the other pictures. You would think, ... oh well. :lol-sign:

Maybe they think that their dogs are well bred, and all of the other dog pictures are of ones that don't look like BC's or poms!

You should change your name to TheBorderCollie, since that's obviously what breed of dog you have :p

Eskies are rare there? We have them all over the place here.
Rare enough. I've only met 4 others. All Standards too, and she's a mini. I know there is one other mini that has stayed at our store's hotel.

Every now and then someone knows she's an eskie. I rarely get asked if she's a pom. just, "What is she?"

...and not just any Border Collie, mind you. Oh no, no ... what I's gots is one of them thar rare yellow Border Collies!! Oh no wait .... that person typed "Boarder" Collie. Just wait 'til I tally up his rental fees and present him with the bill. :rofl1:

On an optimistic note ... I would hope that at least those folks who think they have some "rare" type of purebred that they don't have might ... just maybe ... take a little better care of their mixed breeds just because they think their dogs are oh-so-very rare?
(Dunno if it would work out like that, but would be nice.)

Sport is built like many BC around here. Right in the middle of the fine wispy 'sporter collies' and the heavy blocky 'barbie collies' He isn't nearly cobby enough to look aussie to me. AND when you see him in motion (which the foster home would def see) he is ALL BC.

here you can see he isn't blocky or cobby at all (this is a more typical pic of him anyway lol)

I don't even like talking to other Pit Bull owners that I meet. I usually want to gouge out my own eyes with my pinkies.
every once in awhile i'll have a good experience, but at least 50% of the time, i get asked if i want to breed luce to the red nose they have out in the truck or at home, or when she'll be having puppies. that whole no uterus thing is really a bummer, you know?

yes, my dog is so incredibly rare that i was able to get her at the dog pound. red nose and all.

Yup, that angle looks all BC. :)

Do you think the tri-coloring threw off the foster home? Though you'd think that if they foster a lot, they'd have seen more than just the b/w coat before?

Too be entirely fair, not one person will believe me when I tell them that Argon is half Bassett hound. He looks sooo much like a whippett, that it's not even funny. The only Bassett you can see in him is his reddish coat and the freckles on his long, long legs. People refuse to believe me, even when I tell them that, yes, Mom was turned into the pound too, and he was at her teats (only 4 wks old) when I first met him.
Mom was registered, too, and while she was obviously BYB, she wasn't too far off standard. How she ever found Argons father is a bit of a mystery.

I get Chihuahua alot with the Cresties. Kya has gotten cat or boston terrier puppy. Chloe also got hairless skunk.

I was walking my mother's crested once on a wooded trail, and another hiker said that she looked like a fantasy creature from the woods. I liked that one :p.

A lady at a dog event introduced her two dogs as powderpuffs when she saw me sitting with Chloe. Ummm, no. Large with odd coats and no crestie structure that I could see.

I've been told Saga is an ITALIAN Greyhound. Right after that, we even saw a lady with 2 IG and I asked her if she like MY IG.
