Gosh, thanks Renee. I really was proud of him. maybe it is the newf, boxer gd mix coming out. :) Will he always shed when he is under these situations or will he outgrow that? Where did you get your short stiff leash? It would be much easier.
I've had my leash for a long, long, long time . . . it actually belonged to Purdue, my first GSD (when I was 12!), but someplace that carries more leather collars, leashes and pet supplies should have one. I'll see if I can find an example online somewhere.

Brutie will probably always shed under stress, but as he gets older and more experienced and more confident in himself and in what you want him to do, he'll be much less stressed - so less shedding. It's actually a good way to keep tabs on his emotional state. A lot of people never even notice that their dogs do this.

Shiva had an "experience" with a Great Dane at the pet food store once when she was about Brutus' age. The dog was a mature, intact male who decided to try to play the dominance game with Shiva. He put his chest up to her shoulders and started leaning over on her since he was considerably taller than Shiva. What he didn't count on was the fact that Shiva was CONSIDERABLY sturdier, lol! She looked at me sideways, with her little questioning look she gives me when she's getting ready to do something wicked, and I just grinned at her. Then she started leaning back against the Dane, very subtly, never shifting her feet at all, until the Dane staggered back and backed away from her. The clerk who'd been watching told us later that she'd enjoyed the show, as that particular Dane was, uncharacteristically, a bit of a bully.

These are just neat dogs

The dog that bit Brutus was a Miniature Dobie, he reached out of his shopping cart and bit Brutus on the nose. I wasn't sure what Brutus was going to do at that point. He just looked at the dog with that Fila stare, then we walked off. They really are amazing animals. There is no way, Roxie would have tolerated that without me intervening. I love that Fila stare by the way. They are so sneaky, but yet so regal when they do these things.

LMAO I hear ya with the ignorance of some people.

People ALWAYS assume that Riot is a mix of some sort of German Shepard and something else.. I have gotten a lot of GSDX with a Sheltie lol

Only a handful of people have come up to me and ask if he was a Belgian Tervuren! lol
