Anyone want to tell me why a person walking out of a bathroom stall would then walk right out of the restroom? Without washing their hands??! WHEN I'M STANDING RIGHT THERE WATCHING THEM?????

You'd think that if there's someone that will see them, they'd wash their hands, if for no other reason than out of fear of embarrassment. Right?????

Someone seriously needs to perfect this technology:

I have been in restaurant rest rooms and watched staff walk out of the stall and out of the restroom without any hand washing.

I also left the restaurant, after telling the management why I was going.

Happens all the time. At school I've watched nursing students fail to wash their hands.. At work I've watched parents of children I know not wash theirs..

Best is when I'm in my paramedic uniform and just stare at them and they don't stop to wash..

Ugh. Disgusting. Maybe I should start running after people, yelling "excuse me Miss, you forgot to wash your hands!"

LOL at school hardly anyone leaves with out at least water washing. However I am not grossed out. I assume most people are just peeing, and they use toilet paper. I do think people should wash their hands periodically throughout the day, there are far more germ laden things that you touch on a regular basis than your hooha (through toilet paper no less) :D

I do that...I have handwash with me, like the stuff that you rub into your hands without water, and I don't like to do it in the toilets, because then I have to touch the door handle, knowing people with dirty hands will have touched it. So I wash my hands once I am out of the door. :)

Call me dirty if you like, people probably do think that.

Being a chemist by trade, I wash my hands BEFORE and after using the restroom. Acid that I may not notice on my hands, I would certainly notice ... well nevermind. Sulfuric acid has a penchant for lingering on the flesh for a bit before attacking it. (And yes I glove up when handling the really nasty stuff.)

I have done that before because I was using a new kind of tampon and was making sure there was no leakage... literally just touched the stall door and my jeans, so I used hand sanitizer.

I contemplated washing my hands in the sink solely to avoid the dirty looks, but I decided acceptance among people I would never see again wasn't worth waiting at the sink, getting my hands wet and then having to pummel the paper towel dispenser for half a minute to get an adequate amount of paper towel (which would've made me late for class).

I use a hand sanitizer that I'm not allergic to unlike most cheap soaps which cause my hands to blister so yeah, I am that person who walks out of the bathroom without stopping at the sink. I also don't worry about explaining myself to strangers.

That said I don't work in food service lol.

I usually wash when people are in the room to avoid being judged…. But I use sanitizer as well, after I am clear of the restroom, to get the door handle germs etc off… I use it before going in as well…. I don't use it very often otherwise, because I don't think it's good to over sterilize either… But am admittedly paranoid about public restrooms….

Basically this. I can't speak for women but basically whatever I have on my baby-leg is going to be the same stuff I have on my hands before and after I entered the restroom. You've got stuff all over your body, not just your nether-regions.

I shoulder open and kick closed stall doors. I kick the flusher thing to flush. I basically don't touch anything but myself, and even that isn't really necessary if you do it right. When I wash my hands I'm going to turn on the faucet, get contaminated from the controls, wash my hands, turn off the faucet and just recontaminate myself. There's not much point.

The VERY next door you go through will undo any sanitizing you just did unless you have a habit of not using your hands to open doors.

Think about it. The tap you have to turn to switch on the water was touched by everyone BEFORE they washed their hands. It is moist and room temp. Now you come along and touch it, wash your hands and switch it off again. How much good did that do?

Judge me all you like, I am NOT touching those sinks. Hand sanitizer all the way baby!

I was watching a George Carlin show on Netflix the other day and he said something to the effect of "I don't wash my hands after I go to the bathroom! The only reason I wash my hands is if I get **** on my hands....and that happens TOPS two times a week." Only with more of the eff word because he's George Carlin. :p I'm still sad he died, he was hilarious.

That said, I don't wash my hands every time I go to the bathroom. 1) The soap at work smells really nasty 2) I have not yet died from not washing my hands. And I haven't been sick in over a year. I do wash my hands throughout the day, just not every time I go in the bathroom. I think it's overkill.

Are people REALLY that scared of a few germs?

I mean, I wash my hands, but that's it. I used sanitiser when I went to Glastonbury because porta-loos are utterly utterly VILE.

I have yet to catch (and meet anyone who has caught) toilet herpes or vomiting and diarrhea from going to the toilet.

You probably get more pissy germs from door handles in work than the toilet. Not to mention butt scratch germs, bogey picking germs, fart germs, breath germs... the list goes on.

GERMS (in moderation) ARE GOOD PEOPLE.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't ALWAYS wash my hands when I leave the bathroom. If I go number two, I do *always* wash my hands. I just have a weird phobia about that... but if it's just pee, I don't always. I always carry hand sanitizer in my purse and use that once a day at least. I'm not one of those obsessive wash hands all the time gals though anyways, I think it does more harm than good. But I do wash 'em at least once a day. And if there are people in the bathroom, I usually do a quick wash-over just so I don't get judged, which is kind of sad, but whatever, LOL

Washing your hands after using a public restroom is not obsessive. The restroom I was in did not have a door (just a wall that you walk around), so no worries about getting re-contaminated when opening the door. The faucet is the touch-less kind, actived by motion or light, so no worries about getting re-contaminated when turning off the water. If you have sanitizer, why not put it on while you're in the restroom?

Sorry, it's still gross to leave a public restroom without washing (or sanitizing) first.
