There is another forum on this site called Dog Food and recipes which is devoted to questions like yours. Might be better to post your question there.

I don't know anything about show dogs or what they eat, but I don't feed my pets pedigree, because I think there are foods with fewer fillers out there. I just bought a bag of food (can't recall the brand) that was salmon, salmon meal, and potato (I believe) as the first three ingredients. It was in a blue bag, but the name escapes me.

How can a reputable breeder feed such crap, especially to her show dogs and a potential show puppy?

But anyway, there are lots of different fods for different dogs. I know some breeders who swear by Pro Plan, and some who say Innova works best. Its all a matter of trial and error

Sounds crazy, but a lot of show people feed crappy foods, especially if they have a lot of mouths to feed. I disagree with it, but it happens all the time...

As for the OP, I show my dogs and the foods I use/have used are Canidae, Innova, California Natural and Solid Gold. I also supplement with daily raw eggs and omega fatty acids...

I feed all my dogs Innova only one of them is showing. I also add tuna with oil, Sardines with oil once a week and add Flax oil and Vit E every day to food. I am also waiting on my Kelp that is on back order for the last 3 months.

You will get far more benefits from these foods Canidae, Innova, California Natural and Solid Gold. Purina,Pedigree is junk IMO.

Im not sure where you live in Kentucky but I can help you find a store in your area.

If he's eating such a poor quality food right now, I would switch to a better food right away, but a simple formulation that contains ingredients he's already used to, such as California Natural Chicken & Rice Puppy or Canidae Chicken & Rice.

You can always switch to something more varied (multiple-protein etc.) later on, sticking to something simple is going to make the transition easier on your puppy though. :)

I would also suggest giving a good quality probiotic supplement right from the start to support a healthy digestive tract and build a strong immune system.

I saw a lot of you were supplementing with fish and fish oils. My dogs just got a bag of food (I can't remember the brand still) that was salmon and Potato... do you think that's going to cover the need for those supplements for my dogs?

I say you definately switch from pedigree and Purina. Purina makes Pro Plan.
I'd suggest you either get her on a raw diet or if you want to feed kibble go with canidae, Innova, Natural Balance or Eagle Pack.

Honestly, our Sheltie breeder - who is EXTREMELY well known around here and other places feed her Shelties Purina which isn't as bad as pedigree, but still not a high class food or anything - she does also feed 10 little Sheltie mouths twice daily though hehe
She does feed suppliments when needed though - she is a very health cautious person as well. Our Shelties, when they first came home were on that as well until I switched them off of it.
