panick at the beach

Came in from work last night as usual and took the dogs down to our local beach.Got there and beach was empty coz it was about 10pm,great!So I was
watching Rolo&Lena play and enjoying the serenity of the empty evening beach when... one of the hotels that line the beach started a firework display ffs.Rolos ok with fireworks but lena just turn tail n took off with me in persuit trying to call her back.She got way ahead of me up over the dunes and out of sight and I was panicking a bit coz she`ll go any where to find cover,but fortunatly I found her cowering under my parked car when I got back[clever girl] phew!drama over but still took us both a couple of hours to calm down and I was pretty angry at the ****heads with fireworks.

Whew! I'm glad your girl was smart enough to go under your car!

Was it a major fireworks display or just some people setting off stuff on the beach? And why?? Did I miss a holiday or something? I'd be ticked, too; they could have at least given some warning to beachwalkers...

thanks everyone,alls well that ends well I guess, but the dutch let fireworks off for all kinds of reasons,they`re always at it and it`s accepted behaviour.New year`s like a war zone,it usualy takes Lena till march to recover.
