Also known as "I Love My University!"
It's the middle of dead week and everyone is studying (or complaining about studying) for finals, all the balconies are locked, library study rooms are all packed... How does the University of Washington deal with student stress? Pancakes and therapy dogs!
There's a group called Project Canine that comes to campus all this week, visiting the different residence halls. The dogs and owners relax in the lounge and students can come in and pet any of the dogs they like. The event I went to had 2 gorgeous Irish Wolfhounds (that I would have taken home in a second), a standard Poodle, a Labrador, 2 Portuguese Water Dogs, and a Lagotto Romagnolo. Almost everyone there was pining after pets at home. The atmosphere in the room was really peaceful, and you left feeling 200% better, even if you didn't even feel particularly bad coming in.
And then today, quite randomly, there was a free pancake feed in the middle of the afternoon in one of the halls.
I absolutely love this university, and the effort that goes in to making students feel at home.
