Yes, they see more carcinogens in pan fried or grilled foods...when they're at high temps, especially on a grill when you get blackened parts of the meat. It was suggested on something I saw on Dr. Oz about this, (he had a cancer specialist on there) that you can put sprigs of rosemary on the grill, making sort of a bed... and then set your meat on top of that to protect it a little from the direct high heat. I'm not sure, but it seems that rosemary not only makes a physical barrier, but also something about rosemary itself.
When I do stir fry, I try to keep the heat rather on the low side and cook it slowly and not too much. But completely raw vegetables seem to be harder to digest and I think we lose some of the benefits that way as well as over cooking loses nutrients. Steaming vegetables is the best way to keep in the nutrients. I don't believe we utilize stuff quite as well if it is raw...that is with things that have tougher cell walls.
I think I must have been eating this way and not even knowing it. I have eaten very, very little grain and if I had any, it was whole grain....but very occasionally. (oats and quinoa) I was eating small amounts of meat and copious amounts of vegetables and a fair amount of fruits and nuts, beans etc. Basically no processed foods, not too much fat but a little. Most of the fat comes from avocados, olives, nuts, olive oil etc. But yeah, eggs and
some dairy, but not much at all, like a little milk in my coffee or a taste of cheese at a party or something. I dropped 20 lbs in a very short time. Now, I haven't been quite as strict and am not losing very fast. Grrrr. I need to drop another 10 - 15 or thereabout and I'm just sort of maintaining. What I'm doing differently is eating more cheese, some things like crackers with the cheese and
too many nuts and going out a little more often with my family than I should and eating things like Thai food with yummy wide rice noodles and pizza. LOL. That must be why I'm not losing at the moment.:wall:
So you don't think early man walked around on the plains and stopped to pick some grasses with seeds and ate that along with the little insects that crawled around on the grass?
