Hi, I'm Carole and I'm owned by two Malinois, though one is of the "Dutch Black Malinois" variety (yes a mix, something which they are known to do). I've started reading the posts here every day since I found the place. Seems like it will be a long time before I run out of interesting material. My other favorite dog forum is leerburg.com.
So...my dogs are Doerak, the black, and Ciana, the puppy. She's a little terror and Doerak is always on his toes to keep tiny teeth out of his butt. Seriously, she's much better now that she's about 4 months old. She's turning into a real prize. But Doerak is my boy, and will always be my favorite. I got him from an importer and I feel like I "rescued" him. He was unsocialized and sickly (allergies) when I got him. He's like a new dog, and I love him to death. If Ciana is half the dog he is, I'll be one happy woman.
Doerak is a great agility dog, but I've cut back on that since I found out he is dysplastic in hips and elbows. We're concentrating on obedience now, but I still put up the agility equipment in the back yard for him with very low jumps.
Ciana will be working obedience, primarily. I hope to get her into agility once she matures physically. Nothing phases her. I put various item in the yard...boards, blankets, bags of trash...she just climbs over everything like it's one big playground. If she keeps up like this, she may have some IPO competitions in her future.
