Ovaries: In or Out?

I recently got a 3 yr old unspayed female (had dogs before, but males) from animal shelter. Just read a comment on this board about spaying but leaving ovaries in. Really interesting as i had been wondering about that very thing. Makes sense, but i guess they would still go into heat??? How does removal of ovaries affect bone loss? (she is over 80lbs)

Any thoughts on leaving ovaries in, or is the "normal" type of spay the best to go with?

Has anyone had a Spay done but kept their dog's Ovaries intact?
