So exciting :) We found a wooly bear in the fall and brought it in and looked up how to care for it and it's hibernation cycle and such. We kept it in the fridge to keep her hibernating all winter and we "woke" her up about a month ago and tried to keep her fed until she built her chrysalis.

Here she is building her chrysalis

Today she came out. It's about 15 days from when she built the chrysalis and I was starting to wonder if she was ever going to come out or if it was a dud lol.

It happened so quickly so unfortunately we didn't get to see her emerge but she's out.

I took the chrysalis off of the top of the butterfly house to keep

here you can see the hole she made to get out

And here is Priscilla, our Isabella Tiger Moth. she's really pretty. she's a beautiful dark orange, I want to see her spread her wings because apparently there is a little pink underneath the wings

in this pic you can see all the hairs the wooly bear shed all around the moth

We are going to release her tomorrow evening :)

I did, too. that's part of the reason we decided to keep it when we found it was because we had NO idea what they turned into lol. In our research to find out how to take care of it we found out that it's an Isabella tiger moth :)

It was very cool :) Hannah has had a lot of fun with it. She told me today that she'll miss Priscilla when we let her go but she hopes she has fun lol.
