They're made out of tungsten carbide which is an EXTREMELY strong, tough metal. Only themselves (or other tungsten carbide items) and diamonds can scratch it.
I'm not usually one for celtic knotting, but I just found these to be so unique.

I took these pics as soon as they arrived at our house yesterday.

Ben is a chemist and works with harsh chemicals daily and runs a metal testing machine. He wanted something that would not get ruined while he's at work.

Now, these are extreme close-ups I took of the rings, so the celtic knotting is not THAT huge and noticeable.

nice model.. but why tungsten? it looks like silver and it's true that it's more strong... but gold remains gold ;)

Because gold is a soft metal that bend and scrapes up easily and we don't care about what's traditional and wanted to go a different route.;)

Ooo I like those a lot!!! Hmmm I will have to keep that metal in mind, I too am very rough (outdoors a lot working with my hands) and tend to scratch/dent a lot of my rings. Same with my current BF. But that type of metal might just hold up against our bashings LOL

Gorgeous rings! I'm not a big gold fan either, but my rings are gold because my husband wanted gold, so we compromised and got white gold.

OH I LOVE them. Do you mind telling me where you got them? Danny and I are getting married next month and although I went with a more traditional white gold band w/ a solitaire diamond he doesnt want gold b/c of dints and scratches etc. I imagine plain bands can get pretty beat up. I have been looking at tungsten and titanium but he doesnt want any sort of decorative grooves or engraving. Just a plain band but I am actually having trouble finding one. Sounds like you ordered yours, correct? From a website? I'd love to see what else they have alailable.

BEAUTIFUL rings.... great pictures. They look so cool! And congratulations on getting married, Becca... I had no idea.

As for gold rings, my opinion is why get a ring that you intend to wear forever in such a soft metal? A teacher of mine showed us her ten year old wedding ring that was already misshapen and had dents and scratches, and she didn't wear it every day.
