All of the Borders I've known have been around 20 pounds. I've definitely never met one 27 pounds, but hey, it happens ;)

As far as Sammy and wanting to fight: he's a terrier. Neutering a male dog doesn't guarantee that they will never be dog aggressive. And with terriers in general (though frankly it isn't as much of an issue with Borders) dog aggression runs rampant. Crate and rotate and work on obedience when around other dogs.

And post pictures ;) I love Borders.

Terriers RULE, speaking from experience it takes a lot of training to get a reactive terrier to behave calmly and focus while around other dogs. It can be done, but there will never be a time where you will beable to take a deep breath and say "ok he's cured" its an ongoing issue.

LOL we def need pics :D

i think most breeds are given as smaller than they usualy are as well ,german shepherds are averaged at 26" and 75lb but the ones i see are often 32" and 100lb plus.will try to send photos if i ever work out how to.

the Borders I see at shows are smaller than my hounds, which average 15-27lbs or so. Nice compact small Terriers...my favorite member of that group.

I've known two borders who were VERY different in size. One, from a reputable show breeder, was pretty small - about the size of most JRTs I know. Maybe 13-15 lbs. He was actually supposed to be a show prospect, but his chest got wider than is considered acceptable.

The other, I have no idea where he came from. Judging from what I know of the owner, probably no where that reputable. He was considerable larger - about 25 lbs.

And of course, guess which one is still intact "because he's so cool, we want to breed him".

Pictures!

Wow, Sammy seems little fatty, hope he will calm down soon with other dogs.

Waiting to see your buddies, please grab that camera on the table.
