open sore on nose

I came home to find Kierans nose all raw, cause he rubbed all the skin off it. He has been nuzzeling his new pillow so i thought maybe he just rubbed it raw, untill i saw his rawhide bone he tore in half. It was covered in blood. He chewed in half and cut him self up on the sharp edges. Should I just spray some bactine on it and keep it cleaned? Or should i take him to the vet?

You can probably afford to wait a few days and see how the healing process goes. One potential problem is if the wound is within striking distance of his tongue then wound healing can be delayed by the constant licking. Hopefully he will leave it alone and healing will be fairly swift. If there is any sign of a secondary infection over the next few days then a trip to the vet is probably called for

Use diluted betadine. It is a better disinfectant and is better absorbed so it will treat into the tissue even if it's only on for a short time.

Thanks guys. its healing up nicley already. I dabbed a little dissinfectant on it this morning just to be sure it was clean.
