Jasmine has a carpal pad which is oozing and bleeding. I took her to the vet on Monday, and the cause is unknown. I was given an cream to put on it, but Jasmine licks this off and is constantly licking and chewing the pad. The vet advised not to wrap it because it could become more irritated because of the friction between her ankle and the bandage. She did say to put a sock over her leg, but this isn't quite working. She chews it and yanks it off, and she also is sliding all over our floors.
Any ideas how to get this wound to heal quickly?

Maybe put something that doesnt taste good on the sock? Bitter-apple or a lil tobasco? ( I put a LITTLE dab of tobasco on Katies bandage once to keep her from chewing it, it worked miracles!) Good luck n let us know how she is.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this! I can't offer up any advice though if the vet. says not to wrap it with a bandage. That would have been my first idea to try. I hope Jasmine heals quickly!

It not cut, but is raw in a nickel-sized area and swollen. The vet thought it may be soome sort of allergic reaction/hot spot. It could have also happened while the two pups were playing, perhaps a skid across the concrete. Who knows?! I'll give Neosporin a try, if I can't get her to stop licking the other stuff.

*edit* Oh man, Grammy! I just saw how your Ollie skinned his pads! Poor puppers!! I'm glad he's okay! That situation could have been a disaster!
