Onyx roadtrips to San Francisco

Well, we just got back from a good adventure down the coast to SF. I went with my sister and boyfriend and Onyx (Jasper and Yarrow stayed with family, they wouldn't have enjoyed it for various reasons!). We drove all down the Oregon and California coasts, took some time and visited a bunch of beaches. Onyx met the ocean for the first time! She was pretty stoked on it.

She did really well overall, she travels amazingly well, just sleeps the whole entire time. She also did pretty well in the big cities for a little country girl. I can't imagine living in a city long term with her though, we spent a week in SF and it was intense not being able to take her on her usual long hikes every day. She did super well, still settled whenever needed, we went on lots of leashed walks and she came to tons of pubs and stuff with us, and played as much as we could in the TINY backyard, but I could see the crazy start to build in her eyes. When I let her off leash in the Redwoods on the way home, she was so incredibly happy to rip around! She got lots of good beach time on the drive home too.

We met up with Grace in Portland, that was fun! We were both having camera issues but I got a few shots of her playing with Onyx.

I got a new lens, too! I picked up a 80-200 2.8 in SF, super exciting! Still getting used to it, but definitely happy. So most of the pics from now on are taken with it.

We really did have a blast, San Francisco is sooo much fun! And yeah she rocks the sit pretty, so everyone always gets her to do it. Lots of sit pretty pictures from the trip!

Thanks!! I love that harness too. It's actually Yarrow's, so I had to punch a bunch of new holes in it to fit it on Onyx. I ordered her one of her own, but it didn't get here in time for the trip.

Thanks It really is fun. I almost never travel, I just can't bear leaving all my pups. It was nice to bring one along, although also there just isn't really anyone I would feel comfortable leaving Onyx with at this point so she basically had to come along. I really enjoyed it, I hope we can do some more trips in the future.

Bummer! I posted once in the fire hydrant section about the trip, but I think a lot of people missed it. We also had limited time for stopping in places, but it sounds like we could have had a nice big Portland meet up! Next time!

The photos are great, all of them - but that first photo of Grace and Onyx belongs in an art gallery. Holy hell. Someday I'm going to drive my butt up to your house and pay you for a photoshoot with the dog. Because you're insanely amazing. BEYOND gifted with a camera. We were shooting with the same camera/lens combo for a while, and your photos blew mine out of the water. Now, with the new one, you're better than the professional photographers I know. Somehow you capture the moment in the lighting and detail and expressions. Gah. Your photography is amazing!!
