Is that while I'm job hunting for my ideal FT job.... it is darn near impossible for me to find any time to attend an interview.

I sent in a resume to a place yesterday and today they emailed me asking if I could come in for an interview on the 31st. I'd really love to, but umm sorry... I don't have any availability for the next 2 weeks. Now I just have to hope that MY schedule works with THEIR schedule, and they don't tell me "nope, we can't do those dates."

What sucks more is that inevitably, a working interview will follow. So THEN I have to be available another day, and those things last hours....

Blahhhh how do other people do this. It was way easier when I was available all day, every day.

If this full time job is what you really want, find a way to be there.

At my current job I beat out 5,500 applicants for the position. The promotion I just got I beat out 85 fellow employees to get it. You have to show the want. If they had asked me to bite the head off a bat for the job I would have done it.

Yes, this. I was just talking the other day with the PD about how he was trying to set up interviews and one guy told him "oh that date doesn't work for me. Let me get back to you and tell you what works for me." Um, NO. That guy isn't getting an interview at all now.

I "have a doctor's appointment" when I have an interview, and that's when I get away, and I don't get a lunch that day because my time away for lunch is when I'm "at the doctor." =P

Dr's appointment. Call in sick. If you want the job you have to work with their schedule not make them adapt to yours. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

Yep... What everyone else said. You need to find a way to make it work. No one is going to wait around unless you have something no one else has ON PAPER.

Yep. Call off. I have a friend who works part time in a police department and part time at a call center. He works full time trying to get a new job. If you say that won't work your generally off their list. He comes up with all kinds of ways to get to the interviews, and they may be more than one day.

Yep I've been on the resume-weeding, interviewing, and hiring side of things a couple times. Showing desire is key...not desperation but a strong want...if there's something specific you may be okay asking for another date/time option but if that's what they got, take it, and definitely don't refuse the second option if offered.
