After taking my computer to all these different places trying desperately to get my data off the hard drive and failing, I finally gave in and took it to Best Buy and it worked! I have all my data back on cds! I'm so happy.

I know! Best Buy was a last resort, but here I have my cds with my backup files, so I am happy.

The computing center on campus said it was a lost cause, but I decided to try one last thing and it worked. *whew*

Wasn't cheap, but it was definitely cheaper than having to replace all my files/music/artwork, etc!

how have you done that? i've once lost all pictures taken in about 3 years from my pc and never got those back. oh well, my pc was in fire.. i guess that's why they couldn't get data back

I took my laptop in and they removed the hard drive and retrieved data from it. I'm not sure how, everywhere else said my hard drive was completely shot and it was a lost cause.

It's funny because everyone said Best Buy was completely over-priced, but if they're the only ones able to get the data off the computer, I can see why.
