So I was at my so-called friend's house today. We were sitting on the couch, and Lilly was laying in her lap. At some point, Lilly stands up and literally just pees right on her and the couch. So, what does my friend do? She picks Lilly up by her scruff and throws her down at the floor with force! :yikes: Lilly starting SCREAMING at the top of her little lungs, and kept trying to get up, but she couldn't! Every time she would try to stand up, she would sort of roll back onto her side. It sent me into a panic, it looked kind of like those raccoon things that their noses are attached to that ball, she was basically rolling around like that trying to stand up. I didn't want to pick her up for fear of hurting her, so I just sat next to her crying. After about 2 minutes she was able to stand up and stay up. Her walk looked a little funny, but she wasn't limping or anything. She walked over to Cody and laid down on him. I spent the next 10 mins going OFF on my friend, then picked up Lilly and we all left. I debated taking her to the vet on the way home, but she seemed fine so I decided to wait. She is walking normal again and is running around, playing, jumping on the couch with me, eating, etc. So, WWYD? Take her to the vet? Or not and just keep an eye on her?

I would have...

1.killed my friend (who would no longer be my friend)

2. go to the vet

Due to what you described after, not being able to stand, etc. I would have wanted her to just be checked out to ensure everything is okay.

I hope all is well!

File a report of animal abuse. That is malicious abuse against an animal.

Watch very closely. If you didn't take her to vet right after, and she seems fine now.. just keep very close eye on her. Though, if you file a report (I hope you do!!!!), it will show a little more seriousness regarding her possible injuries to at least have her seen by a vet.

Smack your friend and keep a close eye on her,
keep all things positive, play with ur pup, rub her back, touch her neck and give her treats. etc.. you don't want her to develop a behavioral issue due to what your friend did to her

If my friend EVER laid a hand on my dog like that god help me there would be hell to pay!! she has SOME NERVE! its not even her dog!

I have to agree with PM. But I wonder if you should take her to the vet's and expalin what your friend did and how your dog acted afterwards, maybe she could have suffered some kind of neuro problem that will show up later. Sounds almost like her spine might have gotten a jolt.

What a horrible person, I would never consider someone as cruel as this girl a friend for sure.

That's another reason a dog is a mans and woman's best friend. The human friends are idiots.

I think I would have called the cops and have had the friend arrested for assault on a defenseless animal. Obviously the so called friend is not a dog lover. All she had to do was take the dog off her lap and place it on the floor. A better move would have been to run the dog outside in her arms in mid stream.

One thing for sure if she had charges against her she would not be able to own any animals for a period of time and this is the type of person that I hope does not have any children let alone a dog.

I hope this wonderful person does not have any animals of her own.

It must have been terribly frightening when Lilly wouldn't get up, she looks like just a small puppy. I don't understand how some people's minds work.

Seriously, Sawyer has peed ON ME, twice in fact. And all I did was yell "Sawyer?!' because I couldn't believe he was actually peeing ON me...pretty sure he was just marking me as "his" because Victor was standing right there and Vic likes to possess people too. Though without peeing on them.

Thank-you for your responses everyone. I think I will take her in the morning. She will not come to me when I call her, and she cries when I'm about to pick her up. She's scared :( She willingly jumps on the couch and sits in my lap, it's just when I initiate it she gets scared.

I think I will probably report her because she does have 2 dogs. If she would do such a horrible thing to someone else's dog, you can surely bet she's doing it to her own. It just makes me so sad to see the way Lilly is acting towards me, when I'm not even the one who did it. I hope puppies are like babies, and can quickly forget a one-time occurrence :( My "friend" is no longer a friend. Thankfully she was more of an acquaintance, so it won't hurt me any to cut her off.

To a PP, yes, she is just a puppy. She is only 13 weeks old and weighs like 1 or 2lbs :(

Uncle Fred, my big hound was abused in every way I can think of to hurt a dog for a full nine months when he was growing up....and he is a wonderful, sound, loving family pet. He has even finally stopped being shy with strangers. As long as she has no lasting injury she should do well in your loving care.

drmom, you made me cry...I don't know why, I think I'm just so upset right now.
No, no, I want you to feel better. As long as her health is OK, she will be OK and love and trust you. Just be patient and get her in to the vet. Please don't cry. what a horrible day you and she have had.

Ok I have another thought on the whole thing - could your friend have just reacted without thinking? Did she seem sorry afterward?

My DH will accidentally shove a dog off of him if it jumps on him when he's half asleep - it's an automatic reaction for him and he tries to avoid doing it, but it's hard when it's a reflex. In your friends situation I might've stood up suddenly or reacted because you really don't think about at; and I'm sorry pee is pretty gross when it's not your animal and it's unexpected.

If she shows remorse, I'd talk to her about it and explain how dangerous it was for your dog and discuss ways to prevent a similar thing from happening in the future; if not, then I'd have to agree with other posters that this person would certainly not be interacting with my animals in the future and probably would not remain someone I'd consider a friend.

I agree with Stardogs. It could have been completely by accident and first impulse. Of course it wasn't right - it was downright WRONG and could have very well left your little pup with serious damage. But, what happened after she did it?
