Can any one help me with this???

Chiana my GSD and KC my Golden Retriever, got into a fight a few days ago. Both dogs are fine, neither were injured. Since then Chiana has been posturing and getting antsy with KC, I've stopped her from jumping KC before she was able to several times since then. I dont' know what to do. Chiana has never had problems with my boys, she's been with the boys and I for just over 2yrs. She is however female aggressive. I don't know if KC is starting this or if it's all Chiana. I have a behaviorist coming to the house in a few days to help sort this out. I really hope she can help me curb this issue before it really gets out of hand. If not I will have to chose between them. I just don't know what to do.

Chiana was rescued from a very abusive home by my sister. When she kept getting into fights with my sisters female my mom took her. Well my mom has since passed and I took Chiana because she does so good with my boys and I just couldn't take her to a shelter. I'm really the only person that Chiana has ever had a real bond with. I'm dreading that there is a possiblity that this won't work out.

what were the circumstances of the fight?

in what situation is she getting snarky with KC now?

i'd look into getting in-person help with this- somebody who can look at your dogs and read their body language in the here and now- but for now separate the dogs when you can't be right there paying attention, up the nilif in the household, consider tethering bratdog to you so she can't start trouble, and start working obedience with her several times a day. get rid of as many possible triggers as you can. make sure she's getting enough exercise (a tired dog is a good dog), and pay close attention.

hope this helps!

At first I thought it was Chiana starting the trouble, but after stopping her again today, and letting be in the same room a little later, I noticed that Chiana didn't want to have anything to do with KC. KC kept pestering her. I don't know...right now, I have KC on leash laying next to me while Chiana is out and about. Everything seems to be ok. I notice that when I change Chiana to a leash KC won't leave her alone. KC is a permant leash dog right now.
I do have a behavioralist coming to the house at the end of the week so she can see what the environment is like for the dogs and see who's causing the problem. She says that it's most likely the power struggle between the as KC is just coming into himself he's 5yrs, and that Chiana might be having a "midlife" crisis...that's what her assistant told me. I will actually talk to the behavioralist tomorrow.

Thank you for your suggestions...I'm really hoping that I can get this under control. I don't want to have to give up a pup because of this.

One thing I can say is that one should not be tethered while the other is roaming. That is just asking for trouble. Until the behavioralist comes I would keep them seperated.
