Dang that's the biggest dog. I've seen that dog at the rings. It's an irish wolf. They are soooo huge. I saw one that was a puppy and it was really big.

I met one at a dog show that was only 7 months old and it was huge already. It was also so sweet and a playful puppy.

They are great dogs! I'd love to have one but their short lifespan makes me shy away. They are just so sweet and shaggy.

Wolfhounds do not have wolf in them, they were a hound developed to hunt wolves. They are incredible dogs with outstanding temperaments. I just got a new puppy a couple weeks back. His mom was an English Mastiff and dad was an Irish Wolfhound! I met both parents and the dad was huge, as Wolfhounds are, and very loving. Mom was a sweetie too, but not as big as dad!! I can't wait to see how he turns out :D

a short lifee span is something a person has to take into consideration. I have a frien d that is very fond of rats..and feels they are worth it tho they live only 3 years. With a dog you go thru those hard puppy years, and then u reach that wonderful place where they are trained, and well behaved, then u blink and they are old and leaving u. When Bronki died at 7 i felt cheated...he was just in that place..i need at least 14 years to invest my heart in..if i am very careful and take the best care i can. 9 years would be like Bronki all over again. Does anybody know why large dogs have such short life spans? I know it is the heart, but why? it isn't like that in people always..i took care of a 6'6 man that was almost a hundred.
