I haven't read the whole thread so someone else may have brought up this concern, sorry. Let me begin by saying it looks so great, especially on you. My only concern would be the season. It looks black and dark red plaid, plus the black leggings and the black closed shoes, it looks a little heavy for fall. It looks like mid-winter attire to me. If you live in a cooler climate it would probably totally work. If it's warm where you are in Sept. I think it's just a little dark/heavy.

A sleeveless minidress is definitely not mid-winter attire in the Midwest, LOL! Dressing vaguely like an eskimo is mid-winter attire in the Midwest...

They're not closed shoes, they just look that way because of the opaque stockings. Here's a pic of just the shoes:

The colours are wonky again but the stones are brushed silver. They are lovely though because they make my monster runner's calves not look so monster. =P
Honestly I really wanted red shoes but I could never find any that were the right red and weren't also ugly or uncomfortable.

No way of knowing what the weather will be like come mid-September. It didn't get hot here until just a few weeks ago and usually it's getting really hot and humid by mid-May. It might be sweltering, it might be freezing or even snowing... I need to find a jacket of some kind because the possibility that it will be very cold is definitely there. I want silver to bring out the silver on the shoes but I'd have to find one that won't make me look like a wrapped turkey or something.

ETA: Thanks guys for all your help and your compliments! You are all so sweet. I don't do girly well so I don't do it often. This is just punk rock enough for me to feel comfortable in it. I tried on this flowery, girly purple-y dress that was so cute on the mannequin and it looked awful on me, LOL.

Oh, I'm sure you'll be fine! I live in the south, lol. Here, that would be a perfect Xmas party dress with a faux fur shrug or dressy wool coat over for outside.

I went to a wedding just Saturday, and honestly, my dress was probably that short, and the bride didn't seem to have an issue. Mine was also a polite lady like crouching only thing. No bending over in that baby.

That said, I think I'd like it better without the stockings. But it's all up to you.

So her wedding colour scheme is red, black, and white.
And I said "so if I wear a dark red dress I'll fit right in?"
"Oooooh! YEAH you will!"
Sweet.
