My own hijack from breeders thread.

You pass on what happens to your dogs? your line?

I went and ordered a living Will and want to leave at least 10,000 in rescue of my breed if I was to leave early....

I Dont think many people prepare for what can and will happen.

I wonder how many breeders have entrusted their estates to look after their dogs and then breedings.

This is assuming my husband outlives me he keeps dogs, pays off farm and sends money to ovcharka rescue .org. IF we both go the farm and 250,000 goes to our horse girl and ovcharka rescue...

I cant wait till the lawyer sees this will :)

Ok I hijacked my own thread but it is revelant.. Why breed if you cant take care of the dogs??? Maybe im a bit extreme planning my funeral when Im only 41.

But at least I have friends here who will back up my will..
Candy Harvey gets the farm and everything If me and my hubby pass on early.
And she must send 10,000 of each insurance policy to Ovcharka rescue.
She must spay and neuter all dogs and work with Ovcharka rescue if the young ones are too much and need homes. Pay off house and can sell farm AFTER all dogs horses and sheep pass on.
I dont want my hard work to be bred with backyard breeders... even after im gone.

I think its wounderful that you have your bases covered ahead of time like this, it is a very responsible way about having things done if you were to pass away

The only base I got tagged on was breeding my stud to a outside bitch and rescues are in that future.... I guess I will need to leave behind something for them as well..

I do plan to live and breed for many years to come.....

thanks for the reply..

I co own a pup and she'd of course revert to the co owner, as would any co owned dogs I may have at that time.

I am a married woman, and all my dogs were purchased or are considered property of both my husband and myself. He and I have spoken about the dogs and they are to be immediately s/n and retained here unless severe financial hardship dictates they be placed. My children come first and thier welfare and financial status is MOST important. I trust my husband to do what's best for the hounds...just as I do with our children...but we've talked about it.

I trust my husband but he does not have the ability to take back a CAS that has rebounded and whom he has not seen since a puppy.

That worries me he can take care of our pack great.

But it takes me 2-3 months to rework a rebound back into our pack..

Thus he knows and it will go in writing soon that he needs HELP if something happens to me with my co owns and or pets that may need a final resting place.

That is why im happy I have Angie from Ovcharkarescue.org

My kinda insurance policy of a rescue Angel.

I think he is beautiful and if I was interested in a big dog he would be something i would definitly be interested in, But he is too much dog for me.
If you can handle that you can handle just about any size dog :), i bet those people were "Oh MY" when you showed them your dog :D

They kinda sit in awe- im lucky they dont really pull like draft dogs or dog bred to pull large size louds, put the other day I got faked out, taking Teddy my new stud to work petco- I get him outside the doors he fakes me like he going into the van and does a double back turn around and jumps back thru the doors with a 2 ft head start I did not loose the leash but went flying thru the doors after saying GOOD nite to the crew.

Everyone LOL when he turned over and showed belly like he knew pulling me was a BIG NO NO.

I find it is not the size of the dog or the size of the person but the size of the heart and mouth of the owner. I have a big MOUTH and when I talk it is like EF Hutton back in the 80's :).. Ive seen a 103lb wet woman control 170lb Filas with her voice alone.

You pass on what happens to your dogs? your line?
We have someone named in our will to become the caretaker of our dogs with an immediate named sum of money to be passed to her in order to be able to do that.

She knows this, of course. Periodically, I prepare a letter for her entitled Final Wishes and I send it along to her telling her she can open it now if she wishes or only in the event that something happens to us. I need to update that document, thanks for the reminder! I also keep a copy of it in my home files (my mom knows of its existence) and with our executrix.

We have no children. We have stipulated a certain percentage of our estate to each of our nieces and nephews and a percentage to the cardiac program at the Ontario Veterinary College.

You pass on what happens to your dogs? your line?

I am facing this very real question with a friend of mine in pyrs. She is dying and she doesn't want her line gone. It has been a real struggle because she wanted me to continue her breeding program and I just can't/won't. That is simply too much for me to do as one person. So...with some arranging, some luck, and some persistance via her husband, the line will continue. The dogs will be split up among 3 different people. Contracts have already been signed, dogs have started dispersing, and with some good old fashioned cooperation her breeding program will live on.
As for how you prepare for it? I don't think you really can prepare. I think, sadly, it might look good on paper in some cases but then not be exicutable. I know she had it on paper for me to take the dogs and while I could do that to rehome them, I could never do it to breed them.
