I need to get the dogs vaccinated while they are boarded in the kennel. I called one vet which is in walking distance and to get them done she estimated $285.60  Is it just me or is that ridiculous? I don't do them every year because I'm not a fan of over vaccinating. I can not afford that. I didn't think it would be more then $100 and even that is more then I can really afford. This is ridiculous.

If all you want is to get the vaccines done, call the local shelter/health department/dog licensing department/petsmart and ask about upcoming vaccine clinics.

I've called and called. I think I might just get Steve's family to come in and stay for the few days. His aunt will come but she's so whiny I didn't want to deal with her. <sigh> We'll only be gone two full days though so maybe it won't be so bad.

The way I'm reading this is that you are looking to the dogs vaccinated while they are being boarded, right? And they aren't being boarded at the vets? In that case, I think the price is so high because the vet is charging for a "house call" since she is leaving her office.

would it be possible to have someone look after the dogs in your house?? It might be cheaper, and then you won't have to vaccinate them. Or maybe you could bring them, and leave them in crates wherever your staying?? That way they'll only be alone for the evening anyways. Just a thought.
I brought my dogs with us for a weekend last fall, and for the duration of a party we had to be at, and left them in the truck. It was October, so pretty cool, and they are happy as clams sleeping in the truck (happier than if i'd kenneled them, thats for sure!) but they are both used to travelling for doggie events....and I was able to sneak away and take them for a walk so they didn't end up spending all that much time in the truck anyways....

Our vet does $46 for shots, then $30 for an office visit. They have to get the extra in there, don't they? Then $90 for Heartworm meds!! :yikes: for 12 pack. This is a must, too many of our dogs have had heartworms. We rather pay that than putting them down/treatment. (if they are too bad, he will give us heartguard, to prevent from worse) Which Hershey, and Whisper are def. heartworm negative.

They charge us $30 office fee, $15 Dog shot (5 in 1), $10 bordetella, and $15 Rabies So $70 for us. But don't use the Tractor Supply vaccines, my vet say they are no very good shots, we were using them for awhile. But we stopped after a puppy contracted Parvo after 2 sets.

I stick to the same vet as they do yearly checkup and what shots are needed . I'd rather pay $150 a year than worry .

me too, grammy.

$45.95 for the first exam, $38 for additional dog, $20ish per vaccine. *shrug*

My dogs are on rotational schedules so they get rabies one year, distemper another, kennel cough vaccine as needed.

Well first of all I've mentioned several times that I MOVED HERE A WEEK AGO lol so of course I don't have a regular vet. And second of all we don't have a big vehicle so I'm trying to find someone close so that I don't have to haul mav in a cramped car for long distances.

My vet does free exam with shots always. You may want to see if any vets around there do that. There is quite a few here that do. I usually pay $20-40 (depending on what shots)

Holy cow that is crazy!!!! DaVinci was the last one to have to have shots and it was 16$ for the DHPL-PV 8$ rabies and 8$ for bordatella. No office call and worming is free. So 32$ for all of it.
