well let me start off by saying we are enjoying our weekend in DC. We met up with Lilavati and mr Lilavati and had a great time with them. We went to dinner last night and then met them at the natural history museum today. Had lots of fun. She's great to be around.

Yesterday we went to the zoo and after about the first hour and a half I began to realize that my runners SUCK and are NO good for long term walking. the soles are ROCK hard and there is little to no cushion and I could just feel the friction on the soles of my feet with every step. My feet just got so sore on the balls of my feet. so I tried to compensate and walk on the outsides of my feet to take off some of the pressue. not really on purpose but because it just hurt too much but I didn't want to leave the zoo yet lol. SO that of course put strain on everything else like my knees and hips.

got home and the bottoms of my feet feel bruised and are blistered and I have a pain behind my knee when I try to straighten it out. and then just general leg aching and muscle pain.

but we had plans today and I didn't want to miss out so I sucked it up and got on with it.

now I look like an old woman everytime I go from sitting down and then get up and walk. my feet are so sore and my muscles ache and I can't straighten up for a few minutes and I walk really slow and hunched LOL.

I did it to myself so I shouldn't complain... but I'm going to anyway.

It HURRRRRRRRRRRRRTS lol but Brian is being such a good hubby and is taking care of me and waiting on me hand and foot (no pun intended) lol

P.S- I do have a few pictures to load but I won't get to them till later

is this the first time you have worn those shoes?
I know the old lady feel--since I hurt my knee, that is me! Stinks!--you should heal up pretty quickly--(even if you don't tell puckstop right away and mild a few more foot rubs out of it! :p )

No I've worn them before but just for short outings like the grocery store and stuff. never worn them for any substantial periods of time.

LOL yes I might feel bad for a bit longer than usual ;) lol

well we are still at the hotel tonight :) won't be home until tomorrow.

we just went for a swim and that actually kind of helped. took some of the pressure off of my legs for a while. and it was refreshing after SUCH a hot day.

yes the weather was nice... although it could have been a LITTLE cooler lol. walking around in 90 degree weather in the sun is not my thing lol. I suffer badly in the heat lol

for future reference you need to come up w/ a way to reduce friction on your feet while walking alot more than normal. not every trick works for every person but here are some i've run across in the Marines:
some kind of liner sock or dress sock under the regular sock
vaseline on the feet
chapstick on the feet
duct tape on the feet (i used this at mountain warfare school with great results)

That sucks, Sparks. :( Swimming helps, go soak in the jacuzzi for a while if you can. Or a hot bath in your room.

I kicked my own ass today at raquetball and I'm just now starting to feel it in my feet. I am going to be crawling tomorrow, I think, if I can manage to make it out of bed.

the wierd thing is I've NEVER had a pair of sneakers before this that left my feet feeling this way. yes it was definitely friction. I could feel it causing my sock to rub against my foot and it was driving me crazy even before it got painful.

Then on top o f that there is the bruised feeling on the pressure areas of my feet which is another thing I haven't really experienced much before and I've spent a week walking around disney parks from open to close many times in my life lol.

but these shoes are the WORST. there is NO cushion. it' just hard soles.

We are going to sesame place next sunday so another day of lots of walking. I'm going to wear my old sneakers. I've never had any trouble with them and I'm going to try maybe wearing a liner sock underneath like you suggested.

good tips. hope I can find something that works.

but in the end I think I really need a better pair of shoes as well.

I feel like an old woman. but I need to be ready to go n ext weekend cause there is no way I'm missing out on that lol. After that I can really rest.

is it possible to break in a good pair of shoes in a week? lol

Ouch! I had no idea it was so bad! It sounds to me like you just need another pair of sneakers . . . for one reason or another, those aren't suited to your feet! I'd try warm water and Epsom salts (which is probably the main ingridient in what Renee is recommending).

And it was fun being around you and Puck as well. And Hannah is lovely. I hope you got home safely?

Thanks Lil :) yes we arrived home safe and sound around 12:30 yesterday. We were supposed to go to Brians cousins place but Now I'm sick LOL> this was just not my trip haha.

yeah those shoes just don't work for me. I'm hoping my old ones are still laying around here somewhere and that I didn't junk them.

My feet are feeling much better now though. still a few aches and pains but at least I can walk normally lol

ouch I can completely relate!!

one trick I used for these cases is to soak a napking in really cold water and put it where it ached the most, it's a basic, great relief

Whatever brand your old ones are -- get a new pair in that brand! I've learned not to brand surf too much with shoes I'm going to be doing a lot of walking in. I stick pretty close to Filas (ironic, lol) for athletic shoes because my foot's narrow and they fit me well and it's hard to find sneakers narrow enough for me.

Other than that, for non-athletic shoes, I've found that Clarks, Born and Merrick are great for being on my feet; I just have to find them narrow enough. My mom loves her MBTs, except that they are fairly heavy. She got a pair of the Filas like mine (with the new workout soles) and loves them.

Oh, and socks! You would not believe how freaking soft and cushy those diabetic socks are! I LOVE them to wear with sneakers!

Yeah I went with sketchers this time. I have a pair of (had a pair no idea where they are now) of sketchers winter boots that I LOVED. but the sneakers SUCK at least these ones do. so I'm definitely not going to try those again

I find for me Reebok and Nike really work well for me. I think I'm going to go to the nike outlet here. I've been wanting a pair of the nike shox. I've tried them on and they are super comfy and everyone I know that has them loves them and I've had great success with Nike shoes. and at the outlet I can get them for a really good price compared to getting them at say ... foot locker where they are still over $100.

I hope Hannah doesn't catch it! Unfortunately, you probably picked it up on the Metro . . . the Metro is great, but I've noticed that when I've been riding it a lot I tend to get sick.

I think I actually got it from Hannah. I was having some mild symptoms on Friday before we left but mostly just some congestion. SAturday I had a sore throat but a little dayquil and I was good. sunday I woke up and I was a mess lol.

Halfway home Brian says "well your voice sounds better" I laughed and said "well I feel like crap but at least I'm putting up a good front" what does he come back with "well I didn't say you looked any better. just soudned better" LOL jerk
