So....it turns out we very possibly will be adopting two purebred great danes. We were thisclose to adopting a bloodhound this morning when Patrick turned to me and said "I know he is big and goofy and adorable, but you want a great dane and I think we should hold out for it" So we left animal control and headed home. Once home I was browsing craigslist in the pets section and saw an ad for two great danes that needed fostering for a minimum of two months. I thought to myself "Now that would be great, I could test drive my chosen breed AND help someone out" Long story short it turns out the guy that owns them (two purebred female GD's) is moving to hawaii and refuses to have them kenneled for more than a week (hawaiis quarentine period is insane) and wants someone to foster them while he finds out if he can get a superfast quarentine for them. If he can't, and he doubts he can, we can have the dogs. They are (according to him) well trained, fed innova, up to date on all shots, microchipped, and papered with the AKC. One is spayed one is not. Both are proven good with cats, dogs, elderly people and children of all ages. He is coming by tomorrow to see if my home passes inspection (Dear Lord please let him understand we are in the process of remodeling and will excuse the house needing to be painted outside desperately, and the fence needing to be repaired)

Maybe I don't need to buy a stuffed animal GD after all to pull around on a leash....

I'd like to see that! lol

Well good luck, hope it turns out for the best for y'all.

So how long will he have to wait before the dogs can go to Hawaii? If they have to be quarantined for a a few days he possibly wants you to keep them, for good?

I used to live in Hawaii, and if I remember correctly, they have a 90-day quarrentine. It's amazingly long. I hope all works out well for you, but at the same time, I hope this guy doesn't have to give up his dogs. At the very least, you will be giving the dogs a great home for a few months.

Oh my, 90 days! What happens during that time, as far as spending time with them and stuff? I don't think I could do that, 90 days without having Ike by my side.

I hope the best for everyone in the situation. If it turns out good for you, it will be bad for him. And likewise. Anyway, I hope everyone turns out happy!! :)
