I was over at TDG's house last night watching "Death Proof". Part way through the movie Virgo comes in, soaking wet from the rain outside and just all sorts of full of herself and wanting to cuddle. I tell her to go lay down and she does and we go back to watching the movie. A little bit later on, I notice there's this dark shape on the floor, but can't quite figure out what it is, so TDG flips on a light.

It's a dead, young squirrel.

Virgo goes back to being very proud of herself now that her present is being noticed and I just lmao'd at Virgo's idea of "dinner and a movie." :rofl1: The irony is a bit amusing as well.

LOL! Hey, if you can curl up with a snack, why can't she?

My cousin lives in the country, and his cat used to bring in small animals at all hours of the night (kitty had her own cat door). And she would leave them as gifts right on his pillow, next to his head. My cousin said there's nothing more unnerving than waking up in the morning and staring a dead rat in the face.

It's odd...with bones or such, I have to be very firm in the "drop it" command...things she kills? I just hold out my hand and she spits it out. I wonder if this goes back to previous hunt training she had before I got her or what?

She doesn't maul these things either, just kills and brings in. That chipmunk she killed in the house a few months ago? I let her have it as a reward and she wanted nothing to do with it after it was dead. She ate part of that rabbit she caught soon after we moved in, but I was too worried about fleas and parasites to let her have much. It's comforting, in a very odd way, to know that my dog could feed herself if the occassion arose.

Orson brought in a mole once, put it under the corner of the couch. We didn't actually know WHICH dog had done it until Kevin picked up the mole and Orson come running, snatched it, and put it back under the corner of the couch! LMAO...........he isn't as sweet as Virgo about sharing :rofl1:

Yay, Virgo the huntress, bearing gifts. my husband is from Kentucky, and he knew people who hunted squirrels and said the were good eatin'.

Suvichka the pretty kitty likes to leave mice she catches neatly lined up in front of the refrigerator. Nothing like stepping on something furry first thingin the morning, barefoot.

There is just no way I would leave the cat door open at night if I were in his situation. Yuck!

Yay, Virgo! I bet she was feeling so dejected when you didn't notice her gift at first.

He's right. Squirrel and dumplings is one of my favorite meals. Very tasty.
