My mom is going to Italy for a few months of vacation with my dad. They dropped their pet crew over at my house last night, and left. I invited my brother, his wife, their kids and my sister over along with some of our friends. The kids were downstairs with the dogs. My brother lives a while away, and he was realy buzzed, so I told him he wasn't going anywhere and they slept over.

This morning I woke up, and counted our puppers and kitters. Sindra and Jack sleeping in the kitchen, my mom's rottweiler Dawsonick (AKA Dawson), my mom's black lab Jake, my mom's German Shepherd x Akita mix Charolette. Then I panicked. My mom had bought two puppies a while ago - both of them dalmations, and I only found one.

During the night my brother went out to have a cigarette (which is weird, cuz we all went to bed at like 2AM and the kids and I were probably the only ones sober) and probably left the door open. We have a fenced back yard, but someone had removed the flowerpot I had covering a hole under the fence (which I actually planned on fixing today). So now I can't find Dottie, and her brother is frantic. Mom called and asked how we all were, and guess what? I couldn't bring myself to tell her Dottie had gotten out.

The kids are out with Dawson and Dottie's Brother Arson and their mom trying to find Dottie, my brother's out with his pickup-truck going around town and I'm on hold with the vet office to let them know Dottie's missing. I already called the shelter and I plan on making a few more phonecalls, but I feel aweful!

I'm also going to call my neighbours and ask them if they've seen her. She's micro-chipped but there's no point in calling my mom's house when she's in Italy.

Anyway, keep Dottie in your thoughts guys. Is there anything else I should do?

Can you check your mom's messages?

You'll probably find her, pups don't usually go too far on their own. Good luck.

I called her neighbour to check the messages, she said there's nothing and she'll keep checking every hour or half hour or so. My brother came home and said he saw nothing, and he's going to go out and check the park on foot since the park isn't too far off.

I've called every vet office in town to let them know and the shelter promised they'd keep an eye out for her. I have to stay home to watch Sindra. Her temperature dropped and her pups will probably come very soon. I'll keep ya updated on that.

I hope she comes back soon. Does your mom live far that the pup may be trying to get back home?

The poor thing hasn't shown up, and it rained a lot last night. I'm worried she may have gotten sick and is probably realy hungry. Jake is a bit of a tracker, like if you give him a scent he'll follow it, but after he looses it he just sits and stares at you like '*drool* Tennis ball needed now'. I've been taking Jake out and trying it with him while my brother's wife stays home with Sindra and Jack, while the kids run around with Jake. My brother decided to drive towards my mom's house (not all the way, just as far as we figure she could've covered in one night) with Arson and nothing. I'm getting realy worried now, and am going to go take Jake out again. We get further and further each time we try, so far we've gotten about a block away.

Jake was originally in tracking classes or something like that, which now I'm thankful for because now I know the general direction she went in (unless Jake was just following the scent of the neighbour's poodle... which I hope he didn't)

Keep her in your thoughts guys. :( my mom called me again today and I still can't find the courage to telll her. I just told her everything's good and her cats are fussy as usual. (they realy aren't, I think it's just because my mom doesn't have a lot of hiding spots in her house so the cats get annoyed with the dogs more often).

I'm going to stop talking now and take Jake out. It's getting harder though, the rain swished out her scent. (or so I figure).

also call lost dog registry, and look at fido finder..plus post your dog at fido finder. I once had someone that read my found dog there and knew a similar dog had been posted on another lost dog website. All the info out there helps. Hopes and prayers, there is nothing sadder then losing your pup.

Oh no! I'm so sorry, that's terrible. Hopefully she hasn't been picked up by someone :( But a puppy, particularly a breed like a dalmation... i don't know. I'd try the police station, and put up fliers. Offer a reward but don't put an amount. If you need to give some asshole 50$ for the puppy, then so be it.
