Heya

Well I've had a look around and these are the only two dogs I can get hold of. Which of these is better? The only other option some people have said is good is James Wellbeloved and I can get hold of that.

Thanks for nay help, anything has to b better than the pedigree rubbish she is being fed now!

From looking at the Burns ingredients online, it looks like all of the formulas are really high in grains...so unless you're going to add fresh meat and vegetables at least a couple of days a week, I wouldn't feed that. The Nutro Natural Choice Lamb Meal and Rice looks like an okay food, but it seems pretty high in grains too. From looking at ingredients, I'd say go with the James Wellbeloved if you can.

Answer... Anything high in grains will be bad for the dog. I have fed Nutro in the past with other dogs of mine and they did okay with it. Nothing like how my dog now does with EVO but it was an okay dog food... it is high in grains however.

Evo isn't available in the UK unfortuanatly, none of the decent foods are, except Eagle Pack which we just can't afford to have sent to us, plus it's xpensive anyway. It's all so confusing! I'll see what they have in the pet shop we are going to.

Yeah i know what you mean, I would love to feed Eagle pack but I just can't afford to ship it up here from down South.

We are up near Liverpool, and for a 1. something kg bag of food it was going to cost us over £16! We just can't afford that. Adn like I said, since she is being fed Pedigree right now, surely any change is for th ebetter!

Yeah definitely thats what I thought so i switched to James wellbeloved. I'm in south Yorkshire and it was also soooo expensive to post it here! You can only work with what is on offer to you, Casey is doing great on James Wellbeloved.

If a dog doesn't have a particular allergy or intolerance to grain, there's nothing wrong with feeding a food that contains them.

Nutro is really just a second rate food made from second rate ingredients and definitely not worth the cost.

Burns is made from excellent quality ingredients, its only fault being that the meat content is rather low. That's easily fixed by supplementing fresh or canned food though.

Right, Ok, well I'll go with burns and since the hardest thing about swapping her is that she loves her meat so much, I'll give her a can maybe twice a week.

Well I went to two pet shops today, and the one that had Burns was closed. I'm going to see if it's open tomorow and if not, I might go and get James Wellbeloved.

I was just wondering if you do go with burns which canned food would you be using? I've never really fed Casey canned so I was wondering which you would suggest?

I don't have a clue. I've bought the burns, got it today but as we are mixing it with the pedigree to begin with I didn't buy any cans. I'll have a look what the local pet shop has next time I'm there.

Personally I feel it depends on your dog, I live in the UK and have tried burns, James wellbeloved, arden grange and nutro choice, I brought a litter up on the former two, but my boxer does badly on both she loses weight and gets a dry coat, I was giving it with naturediet meat, now she is on her third 15kg bag of nutro still mixed with nature diet and a month ago she won a cup at a show just for her coat and condition, she has never looked so good. James wellbeloved seems fine for my neutered JRTs they need a lower calorie diet. Every dog is different so you need to think about them a lot before choosing

Well we are slowly swapping her over, and the weirdest thing has happened. Jess is a really nervy dog around strangers, but in the past few days, both me and my sister have had friends staying at our house and she has been so different! She even fell asleep laying on my friends knee, something she would never normally do. I'm sure it must be the change in diet.

It's very likely, Alice. :) Diet affects so much more than just the body. :)
