Now, I do wish they'd stop sabotaging the animal WELFARE cause. But at least they doing themselves in and hopefully will drag H$U$ down with them.
As for PETA being a cult . . . that's not entirely inaccurate. Like many cults, and many extreme political ideologies, they lure people in with a very appealing stated goal, in this case, ending human cruelty and abuse of animals. Even their militant vegitarianism and anti-animal testing views are intellectually justifiable, depending on your personal values. However, once people are in, the game changes. PETA has a large body of dogma that through a combination of erroneous logic and an us v. them mentality quickly leads to fanaticism that defies all common sense, moralty, and even their own stated goals of helping animals. The dogma and ideology becomes its OWN justification and feeds on itself. Therefore, they can justify killing 97% of the animals they take in, because their ideology is now divorced from their original goal of helping animals . . . it is all for the "greater good" with the goal of remaking the world in their image. They don't just want to end cruelty, they want to completely change how both humans and animals live, regardlss of what the humans and the animals want, because they know better.
Its not unlike ideas such as communism, were a nice idea eventually lead to the gulag. Notably, with communism, even from the beginning, the higher-ups had a much darker vision than they let on . . . but that's not how they lured people in.
