well we got my puppy (10 weeks) yesterday and right when we brought her home she was very sluggish and tired as we expected her to be. i threw a ball around but she didnt even look at it. she had really bad diharea and we think she has worms as well. and she still has stiches in her stomach from she was spayed about 5 days ago. today i brought her to work with me ( i work at a dog kennel) i put her in 1 of the cages and she just slept the entire time. i put her outside with a dog to get her socialized and comfertable around dog so shes not agressive when shes older. but she just sniffed the dogs nose and waslked away. didnt want anything to do with it. she never plays she follows me around and were ever i sit shell jump right up on my lap and sleep. theres no puppy in her at all. is this due to her medical problems or could it just be the way her personality is? when dogs have worms do they get bad diharea? i need help because im kind of worried about her. i want to play and wrestle with her soon..

And not to jump on your case but a 10 week old puppy has no business being at a boarding kennel around all of those dogs. Not a good idea at all.

You need to get her to a vet ASAP. Is she eating well? It sounds like her blood sugar is low which could account for her lack of energy. She is also probably wormy and will need to be de-wormed. I agree that she should be left at home until she gets her vaccines. She could pick up very dangerous diseases at the kennel.

I agree- you need to go to the vet ASAP. Just curious, not because I think it has anything to do with the matter but what breed is your new pup?

Vet vet vet!! She sounds like a puppy I dealt with (I also work at a boarding kennel) a few months ago that ended up having parvo and dying. The sooner you get her checked out the better! Hopefully she just has a bad case of roundworms and will be easy to treat.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi, I had a dog who didn't act like a "typical" puppy when I found him at 5 weeks old and he is now 11 and a half years old. I took him to the vet because me,my mom, and dad had never had a pup who acted so layed back at such a young age. Obviously, he went to the vet from the start but this unusual behavior was noticed the older he got and we thought he was sick. Turned out that, that is just how he was and still is a very layed back guy. Seeing how your girl just got spayed 5 days ago and may have worms which I would think she had already been dewormed at least twice so far a trip to the vet is a must! Good luck and let us know how she is! Also, I just re-read your post :D You just brought her home yesterday and she could just be scared because of all that has been going on in her life especially if she just came out of a shelter enviroment, then got spayed, then went to her new home. She may just take a few days to warm up to her new surroundings ;) I remember when I picked up my ACD at 8 weeks at the breeder last summer. It took him about a day and a half to comeout of his shell :)

My puppy started like that. I took him to the vet. Nothing was wrong. He did NOT stay a laid back puppy. He was quite a character. He has mellowed in 2 years time, though. I guess it was just the newness of the situation for the first week.

Please get your pup to the vet asap.

I speak from experience... we thought our pup was just sleepy...he had been fixed and we thought he was just tired. But he wasn't, he had parvo and we got him to the vet just in time. If it had been a day later or maybe even only hours later, he probably would have died.

Your pup may not be worst case scenario, but if it is, the sooner you catch the problem, the better the pups chances of survival are.

And I echo the others, taking your pup to a kennel is not a good idea.. especially when the pup has not had its shots, too many things can be picked up at the kennel.

Good luck and keep us posted.

well i took her out today to go to the bathroom and she had a solid crap :D .. she came in and wrestled with her toy for about 15 seconds and is now just wondering around the house. still though she has little puppy outbreaks but she only plays with her toys shell nibble on my hands a little but thats about it.. and shes a very social dog, shell always want to cuddle with someone, and always wants to be around people but she just doesnt want to play with them. ill throw her toy across the room. shell pounce it and carry it around her mouth and then shell just drop it and lose intereast. oh yeah and for who ever asked she is a a german shepard/lab mix

You still need to get her to a vet and get her dewormed and vaccinated though. While you're there let the vet know your concerns about her not playing much. If you know she has worms, go to the vet.

Were you the one that took her to the vet? If so, why didn't your vet give her dewormer when she was being vaccinated?
Hope she gets dewormed soon and put on heartworm prevention as well.

All my pups were layed back , but vetted !! Please don't take any chances ! The breeder should never have sent home any pups with worms . In fact I never had pups with worms. I worry to about being around other dogs with unknown " problems ".... kennel cough, parvo etc. can really be bad if not deadly. Keep up updated !
