I just stumbled across one of these the other day on Pet Finder. They look like really cool dogs!
Anyone here have one, or any experience with them?
How are they generally for off leash activities?

They're very rare - I'd be surprised if it were really a Norwich or cross. Can you post the listing? They're lovely little terriers - not too dog aggressive, but spunky. I wanted one but could never find a breeder with available puppies - they have years long waiting lists ...

Like any terrier, they're require more work off leash than, say, a herding breed (bred to work WITH you). Terriers were meant to be independent, but many excel at off leash sports when trained well.

They are really really cute little guys but they can be very sharp. They are very expensive as far as purebred dogs go. They only have like 1 puppy per litter.

I used to live in Norwich, where norwich terriers were pretty common. Nice dogs, a little bit too yappy for me though. I knew quite a few and they all had a high exercise requirements but were alright at offlead.
That dog doesn't llook like a Norwich to me though...

We used to do the funday (run the lc, gtg etc) for the Norfolk/Norwich terrier funday. Cute terriers. Not overly 'terrierish' not high drive, but ooohhh so adorable.

Thanks for the information! What do you mean by "Not overly 'terrierish'"?
Did anyone else find them yappy? I've read that they aren't as chatty as other small breeds?

They aren't driven in the way most terriers are, not nearly as sharp, lowish prey drive, less confrontational etc.

I have thought when I am old and can't handle a JRT I might get one of these.

So they could be trained to be off leash?
My current dog hikes with me or runs along side my horse for trail rides. Would a Norwich be ok doing this too, or would they be darting after smells the whole time?

My JRTs go off leash. It just takes training. But yes, I forget which one, but one of the varieties has almost no prey drive and should be fine off leash (as much as any dog)

Thanks, that's exciting! Now I just need to get out there and meet them in person. First stop - a registered breeder.
