So what went wrong with yours? The funny, the bad, and the ugly, I want stories! :D

At my wedding, which was a modest affair, we had a few "incidents". The first being that the best man, my hubby's brother in law, got sick and was infectious, so he ended up missing the entire wedding :( We ended up having my brother walk two girls down the aisle, and it made for a great picture lol.

The wedding cake, which my mom and grandma made, had two tiers. The top layer was super moist and too heavy for the support dowels, and the whole cake ended up leaning heavily to one side. Luckily you can't really see it in the pictures :p The cake was so fantastically delicious though, it wasn't gorgeous, but ended up looking cute and everyone LOVED it, none of it went to waste.

My wedding also had some close calls:
When I bought my wedding dress, the store I bought it from suggested a seamstress to alter it. She needed to take in the back a bit, so she attatched one velcro strip right in the middle. Problem was, it caused the back of the dress to pucker, and didn't hold very well :( I was too shy to ask her to redo it. I knew I had to get it fixed, and my mom said my grandma could fix it. She didn't have time to change it until about 45 min before the ceremony, but she attatched some snap buttons, which fixed it right up and looked a lot better! I love my grandma, she's pretty awesome :)

Also I lost our wedding rings before the ceremony. One minute I had them in my hand, the next I couldn't remember where I had set them down! As we got closer and closer to the ceremony, I started to panic, but my sister found them :D I was SO relieved!

All in all, my wedding was wonderful, but we did have a couple tense moments. Ah well, that's what makes it uniquely my wedding and not anyone elses.

Ok, your turn! :)

My sister had her wedding on palm sunday on a beach in California which also coincided with a nearly nude roller blading group's quarterly outing.

One nice man made the wedding album wearing only a strategically placed coconut and two palm trees painted on his ass.

ok here it goes lol.

First off... my dress fit amazingly until the day of the wedding. We used almost an entire roll of boob tape to keep it from falling off of me because it was a strapless dress.

I accidentally got eyeliner smeared across my face because I was nervous when I was doing my makeup and it took forever to fix it.

My mom dressed super skimpy with hooker boots and her boob fell out of her dress at my reception in front of everyone!!! She didn't even notice and Josh had to politely ask me to please ask my mother to put her boob away.

I was pretty much late to my own wedding... was rushing around and we didn't get nearly as many wedding pics as we had hoped. We seriously have only a handful of pictures compared to most people.

I tripped down the aisle and luckily my dad grabbed me before I actually fell... yes I have it on tape, but I don't know how to get it off of the vhs tape.

I couldn't get the ring on my husband's finger... that's also on tape... I started laughing and said something along the lines of, "ahhh crap it's stuck on there, guess that means we're going to have to call this off." lol

My mom completely embarrassed me when she stood up at the reception (dressed like well... you know) and whistled extremely loud to get everyone's attention so she could pray over our meal... this prayer was not something that Josh and I had approved and while I don't mind prayer... there were a TON of people there that were a bit taken back by it.

Oh ya... the pastor that married us forgot how to pronounce our last name HAHAA... so it was... I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. ummmm... what's their name again?

I'm sure there's much more... but can't think right now... at least our wedding wasn't boring by any means.

Ours went very smoothly, it was really small too, like 40 people and held in my dad's backyard. The only blooper was my dad asked everyone to be seated so that we could get started and then he went into the house to use the bathroom. Apparently everyone sat down a lot quicker than he anticipated. I had to stand there waiting for him with everyone turned around staring at me....I think I said something along the lines of "It'll just be a minute, dad had to go to the bathroom..." LOL

My wife fell down the basement steps on the morning of our wedding and twisted her ankle. She was alone in the house (as I was at my best man's house). She managed to crawl up the steps and call her friend who came over and helped her get ready. She didn't even tell me until we were walking around on our honeymoon and I noticed she was limping.

While waiting for the bridal party to arrive, the pastor, my best man and I were hanging out in the side room in the church. I drank probably a full 12 pack of diet pepsi. Had to go to the bathroom the entire ceremony. After the ceremony was over, the music came up, we started down the aisle and I tenderly leaned in and whispered the first words I said to my wife after we married - "Walk faster, I really have to pee."

We got lost on the way to our hotel room that night, too.

I had reserved my dream car (a mustang convertible) as our getaway car 6 months in advance. The rental place stopped renting mustangs 3 months before our wedding, but didn't bother to tell me, so I showed up at the rental place the day before the ceremony, and they look completely confused. My mom saved the day and called every rental agency within a 20 mile radius and finally found one :) It's silly, but it was one of those things I'd been looking forward to forever.

Then, the wedding happened during the middle of a ridiculous heat wave. Santa Barbara generally doesn't get hot--most buildings don't even have air conditioning, because summer usually maxes out at 75 or so. Our wedding day it was 90. We set records that day. The pastor rushed through the ceremony because he was afraid all the men in their tuxes were going to pass out from the heat! Then at the reception, we had rented a margarita machine to make frozen slushie margaritas--only it was too hot to freeze. They were just juice! Luckily the reception was in a building on the beach, so people could escape down to the ocean to cool off if they needed...but OMG it was hot.

Still a great day though :)

My matron of honor was 3 months pregnant and started to faint at the alter, my brothers saw her starting to sway and look pretty white so they had to take her to the side, have her sit and drink some water. I did thank her afterwards, the priest who was a relative was talking for sooo long but did speed it up a bit after that happened. Everything else was perfect, but I have to admit I let my parents do most of the planning. At the time, I would have just eloped, but I was the only girl with 3 brothers and I just knew it would disappoint my mom and dad if they didn't get to throw their only daughter a wedding. 24 years later and I still don't regret doing it.

At the wedding I planned.. one of the bridesmaids decided to go out and get a tattoo on her shoulder and the dresses were strapless
She was being all pissy and "so WHAT? I bet the bride won't even CARE, it's not that noticeable"
whatever. lol after some arguing back and forth (because trust me, the bride WOULD HAVE MINDED) I finally straight up told her that if she wouldn't let me cover it with make up, I told her she wouldn't be in any of the bridesmaid pictures and that I would be more than happy to have security escort her out if she really wants to make a scene

lol all I can say is thank goodness for concealer.

Maybe its because I'm a super anal planner, but other than that.. the wedding went off without a hitch. I didn't get much time to really enjoy it, I ended up in the back with my computer and phone just keeping an eye on everything the whole time, but it was beautiful

Honestly we didn't have any major flubs. I was relaxed enough that the ones we did have didn't bother me.

We were missing a "grandfather" boutonniere, but the florist drove out with another one, so it wasn't a big problem.

The timing was off for our ceremony music, the DJ was inside and couldn't hear what was going on, so it was a bit confusing for him to try and follow.

It was FREEZING. My poor girls in strapless/short dresses were shivering through most of the ceremony and photo taking (I was warm from adrenaline for a little while, but I needed a blanket to keep me warm between photos).

We cut the wrong cake. Someone grabbed Matt's groom cake (with an Ambulance on it) for the cake cutting ceremony, instead of one of our actual wedding cakes (we had various cheesecakes). I really didn't care enough to say anything.

Matt ripped my bustle while we were making our entrance into the reception. I had my dress folded up over my lap for most of the meal time, but grandma fixed it with some safety pins before we really got dancing.

I think that's it!

I used to work for a catering company that did several weddings every weekend. I've forgotten most of the good stories...but there was one where the cake was this huge 3-tier thing, and it was on a table that was on a raised part of the room, basically the center of attention. And it was really hot, and it was under spotlights. In the middle of dinner the top tier slid off. It hit every other tier on the way down. :yikes: All of us servers just stared in silent horror.

Another time, the couple had ordered an ice cream cake. (In Southern California in July, no less.) To keep it from melting, someone put it in the freezer during the reception. But they forgot to take it out to thaw before we had to cut it, and it was rock hard. I don't think the guests noticed, but I remember four servers taking turns hacking at that thing with a giant knife. LOL.

This same venue was mostly outdoors, and had it's share of wildlife. The back area where we staged the catering stuff was mostly open, and one night I'm helping cut the cake and in walks a SKUNK. Luckily it walked back out again in a minute. I can't imagine trying to explain that one to the bride...um, sorry, we can't serve the cake, um, because well...

My favorite wedding story: A family member of mine had her wedding in a hotel ballroom. In the ballroom next to them, there was a party with an Elvis impersonator. The walls were thin, so they could kind of hear the music. No biggie, except right as she reached the alter, Elvis started singing "Suspicious Minds." Which begins: "I'm caught in a trap. And I can't walk out..." :rofl1:

Nothing earth shattering. My husband couldn't find my ring (due to moving stuff into our new house), so my wonderful mother-in-law loaned him hers for the ceremony. The major excitement was when our guests arrived at the recption- there was a bat flying around the fire house. Of course, we missed all the fun of chasing it out with brooms because we were having pictures taken.

BTW- I found my ring a couple of days later in an envelope in the desk drawer.

well, the priest gave a kind of long, rambly sermon.....during which he wandered onto the subject of divorce and how the catholic church really should allow divorce because sometimes things just don't work out....

I remember sitting there thinking "did he really just say that??" :yikes: Not that I disagree, but at my wedding??

of course, we did end up getting divorced, so maybe it was an omen. :p

I just remember during our reception, our photographer had to run out to buy more film (yes--I've been married that long--LOL)--so he told us not to do "anything good" while he was out getting film--LOL! Beyond that, I tore all the lace on the bottom of my dress while dancing --but no big deal there.

Ummm, I failed to make sure everything was squared away with my JOP. We had a smallish wedding, 20 something people at my mom's house, etc. We aren't religious and I don't even like the pastor at the church I grew up in (which my parents were still attending) so I just wanted a regular JOP.

I had spoken with one lady I really liked who does a lot of secular and same sex ceremonies. Well, we had just kind of emailed back and forth and she said that if we wanted her for sure I just needed to mail her a check and she would secure our date. The morning of my wedding I realized I hadn't really heard from her since I mailed that check and I got a little worried because I had never even given her directions to the house. I called to see if she got the check and to give her the address. Well, she had never got the check, didn't even know I definitely wanted her for our wedding, and was clear across the state, hours away.

I spent the next 2 hours calling ever JOP in the phone book and online while my MOH (and cousin) was laughing hysterically and saying "only you". I finally got ahold of this weird sounding, older lady who was willing to do it, only her car had been having trouble so she told me to wait on the line to see if it would start. Sure enough it didn't so I had to call her a cab. She was a little odd, but the wedding went okay. Then after I over heard my grandpa trying to explain to her how to fix her car, :rofl1:. I kept thinking, OMG lady, hurry up, the meter (on the cab) is running! lol.

My cousin loves to tell this story all the time. It was funnier if you were there cause that lady was a little.... off. lol.

I can't really think of anything major other than I had a plastic ring that cost $5

We got married spur of the moment and all the stock sizes for rings at jewelry places and such are size 7's. too small for me at the time. Nothing fit and no one had anything in any other sizes...... So I went into a department store and went to the costume jewelry and we bought a plastic ring LOL and that's what he put on my finger during the ceremony

I still have it :) always will

My first wedding only had one big flub...and that was one of my sisters who was a bridesmaid got really sick with the flu and could not come...lucky my brothers girlfriend at the time stepped in and lucky the dress fit her .....but it was strange to have her in the wedding pictures because I'd just met her (she was from Australia) ...and they broke up a few months later LOL

my second wedding only had a few little issues...one is the limmo got held up driving my stepmother and family to the wedding so I had to have my mother dive me over

My seating cards had ribbons on them that were the colors of my wedding...Me not thinking had put the ribbons on according to table numbers...well when the staff put them out they put them in alphabetical order so the colors were all mixed up LOL....I just didn't think that one out well

during the reception my husband stepped on my dress as I was walking away and it pulled half the bustle out ...but that was a quick fix

all and all nothing to major

I started getting sick a few days before our wedding. We got married in Vegas at Treasure Island (we didn't want to bother with a big wedding), and we got there the day before and had to wait in line to pick up our license. I nearly passed out standing in line. The morning of our wedding I woke up with a sore throat and hot flashes, I could barely speak. I practically had to shout to be heard during the ceremony, and my face was pretty flushed. That and after looking at our pictures I realize that my dress really wasn't very flattering on me.

All in all still a good day though :)
