I was walking the girls and this woman with her daughter came up to us. The kid asked Jazzs breed and I told her doberman. The mom said I was wrong. People made up the name doberman so that thier rottweilers wouldnt be included in BSL stuff. so they bred them to be skinny and crop so AC doesnt think they are rotties. Then she told me Jazz wasnt croped. She argued with me about Jazz not being cropped. And my friends red boy is really a rottie cross. So Jazz is a rottie since dobes arent a breed

I'd just laugh. It's not worth getting mad at stupid people, because they still wouldn't understand why you're mad. Well, they wouldn't understand why you're laughing, either... but at least you'd be enjoying yourself.

Now I'm curious... if I were to start some outrageous rumor like that... how long would it take before someone else heard it elsewhere and it ended up back here on Chaz as a report of the crazy things people say. Haha!

I have people ask me if my dogs are cropped - Jenn, I don't think people are used to seeing *good* cropped ears, so many people think dobes must be born with them.

Of course people are making this doberman name thing, beacuse dobermans have a reputation of beeing cuddly and hugable like poodles. :lol-sign:

Sadly doberman reputation is problably on pair or have more myths than pit bulls.

The worse are the ones that loose the sense of smell and heard and that the brain grow more than the skull so it get squished inside.

Haha, I've been told the same so many times. Winston's 10 now... his brain apparently should start swelling any time now and then he's going to go crazy attacking everyone.

I've also had people argue with me that Dobermans aren't a real breed and are actually Rottweilers (or Pit Bulls). Absolutely ridiculous.

Oh my gosh. You should let her know that she needs to immediately contact the AKC to let them know that some sheisters have put an imaginary dog breed into the registry, and that they're infiltrating dog shows with them.

That is so sad. One of my friends picked up her new smooth collie puppy last weekend. He's tricolored. So far everyone has been commenting on her new doberman puppy. :lol-sign:
