NextDog for me
Breed: GSD or Belgian Malinois, preferably GSD but would be very happy with a Mal as well.
Gender: Preferably female.
Colour: I like sables and solid blacks best, don't really care as long as she's the right puppy.
Dark red w/ black mask preferable for Mal, but again if its the right dog I don't care. As long as its not a washed out poorly pigmented dog its all good.
Where from: Have been watching a couple programs for a while. There is actually a breeding supposed to happen next year that I'm very interested in. I so, so wish I was ready!!! I won't be ready yet, but I'm hoping that its one that might be repeated down the road.
When: Unless things change I'd prefer to wait until Scout is geriatric or gone. She's only six and a half, so yeah. I'm sure things will all come together fast when the time is right!
Goals: I want a dog that I can trial IPO, tracking, OB, and herding with. Might dabble in agility. Beloved active companion is of course also a given.
How excited: I'm very excited. It is hard to be patient, but it is going to be worth waiting to do it right.
NextDog for my man
Breed: Labrador Retriever
Gender: I will be pushing for male, though we both prefer females. Depending on the lines I get my dog from... if she remains good with other females I would be fine with us getting another girl.
Colour: I like chocolates and the fox red... he wants a yellow like his old dog Lizzy. I like yellows that aren't too washed out. Haha, I'm such a shepherd person with wanting good pigment!
Where from: I looked into good breeders of hunting labs and have several I will be watching.
When: 8-12yrs from now. He hunts with his grandparent's springer (she sees him as her #1 person) and she is only a little over a year old. So no new one until she's getting too old to hunt.
Goals: Hunting. I'm sure I'll do all foundations and OB stuff. Maybe I can trial in OB or something with it.
How excited: Well.... lets just say I'd also like to raise a guide dog puppy before then so I can get used the lab thing. Not really my type of dog. I'm sure I'll do fine.
