Hi, I just joined yesterday. I have a 4 month old Beagle named Shiloh. He was given to my 10 year old Brother, cause the owner couldnt handle his howling. I my 3 year old niece just loves him to pieces. LOL. I have to say though, the howling, it does get annoying at times.

From what I have been reading on the internet and this board, it seems to be a big thing with Beagle's. I just have my mother, who says that he whines too much, and I think its because she doesnt understand the Beagle breed.

Is there actually away to teach a Beagle, when and when not to howl?

Hi and welcome to Chazhound! Your dog is beautiful and I'm glad you guys took him in. You can't stop the howling for good but you can most likely teach a command to quite him when you'd like him to stop, ask about it in the training section. I'm sure you'll learn a lot here and I hope you enjoy the forum :D

When hes left outside to potty and inside the bedroom when i'm not there. My other dog Marco, he's a Pittbull/Cattledog mix, is with him. So I dont understand his problem cause hes never alone.
